yes, but what happens to the car you crash into?

That would be repaired by the 3rd party cover from your policy, IF that's legal, but I don't know that it is either.

yes, but what happens to the car you crash into? this is what im bothered about. i strongly feel that this isnt legal at all, and i know someone that drives around using this as his cover all day long, car isnt insured by anyone

thats what the 3rd part is...

full compy : your car, other people cars property, fire theft..

tpf&t - other cars/property, fire/theft to your car

3rd party : other cars/property only

Im with Admiral, there insurance site says - A. If you are the policyholder and 25 or over, then Admiral may give you Third Party Cover when driving someone else's car. Please refer to Section 5 of your current Certificate of Motor Insurance, which tells you if you have this cover. Alternatively, you can call our Customer Services Department on 0870 548 0000.

tbh id phone before even considering driving any car thats not insured.

^^ exactly Colin.

If it was registered in someone elses name then no problem.

And the Ferrari thing is a stupid example, as who could afford to buy a Ferrari and not insure it fully comp....other than someone who could just buy another if they crashed...in which case could afford the insurance!

it was an example to show how stupid i think this is, and i also do not in the slightest bit think its legal. my mate who is 18 has the exact same on his policy, guess what he does to drive faster cars???????

usually you have to be over a certain age..

so if he's 18, its probably illegal

Well there doing that at their own risk, they may get away with it, on the other hand it might fuck them good style.

Imagine crashing said car into a £50k beemer/merc or such like then finding out your not insured!! Or even worse hitting someone & landing a personal injury claim & having no legal aid!! You'd be big time fucked!! I wouldnt go near it tbh unless I had in black & white exactly what they mean by drive any car!!

The car you're driving HAS to be insured by the owner for you to be covered third party, that is definite for all of NUD policies and id assume everywhere else.

nic, i have exactly the same cover with ad flux and ime only tpff on the corsa. i asked loads of questions about it but at no point did i get a definate answer. i would call the company and tell them you are going to drive the car and ask them to send something in writing if they agree. still think its abit of a shady area of insurance

agreed, i rang them today, and they didnt give me an answer either way. im just dubious of my mate who drives cars that most couldnt afford to insure like this, as i do not think its legal at all. he is a good mate and i dont wish any bad to come from an accident etc
