Also, if anyone tried to steal my car, they'd drive right in to a wall, if they just got in a turned the key, which is nice

I don't live on a hill, but have to park on one if I have to go to the shop.

i just get in and depress the clucth and waggle the gear stick. Then release the clutch and start the engine

I always leave my car out of gear. If its in gear when i get in it it means me dad has borrowed the car, its a dead give away

I think the real question is 'why would they steal my car?'

I always park in second and therefore start with the clutch in to select first mostly.

Unless im totally on a flat, I leave the car in gear.

I do tent do start it with my foot on the clutch (somecars dont let you start it unless your foot in on the clutch) - but mine makes a nice noise because the release bearing has gone

I have to leave the escort (Scrote) in gear cos the handbrake is fucked, and I ALWAYS depress the clutch when staring the car. I can see lots of benefits from doing it, and no downside, so why not?

but it doesn't happen in neutral though...

I think it goes back to years ago when I was 15
my grandad fell ill and I put his bm in the garage for him
at the weekend I diecded to wash it for him
got in it and went to reverse out to find the handbrake siezed on
then the nearside rear freed off so I gave it a bit to free tother side off
only the nearside wheel span and dragged the car side ways blocking it in the garage!
