erm, somethings wrong if its lagging, the turbo is small and kicks in really low in rev range, standard wise there is next to no lag.

think its the recirc dv the diaframs split soo its making a chatter noise wen it shouldnt, as the standard ones are silent

the chatter noise is your turbo stalling, most likely caused by your dv not working properly or someone has fitted an aftermarket VTA valve, check that its the OE plastic bosch one first

yeah when it tries to dump, if its not doing so correctly will cause your turbo to stall then you get that chatter noise through the wastegate

Totally disagree. Get caught in the wrong gear and it won't pull at all.

BTW what's the difference between the standard dump valve and an aftermarket one, say a bailey?

depends what you mean by bailey, atmospheric or recirc? Noisy or not? Standard dv is crap, leaks easily and imo a must to upgrade. Id recommend a forge or bailey recirc valve, if you want the noisy ones then id go for turboXS or HKS ssqv along with a bailey fitting kit. Ive had bad experiences with bailey atmospheric valves so imo id steer clear of them

i think you expirance of them are bad then marc, anything but 5th or 6th then maybe, other wise if you in or near the right gear, then there is no lag, down to the small turbo, the 1.8t lump was designed to drive almost like a n/a car
