02 Entry Fee
The entry fee for the Event is £28,000 (Twenty Eight Thousand Pounds Sterling) which is based on two (2) people per car. The entry fee for previous participants in the Gumball 3000 rally is £24,000 (Twenty Four Thousand Pounds Sterling). The entry fee covers you plus one (1) passenger. If you wish to have additional passengers in your vehicle the fee is £12,000 (Twelve Thousand Pounds Sterling) per additional passenger if you have not participated in the rally previously and £10,000 (Ten Thousand Pounds Sterling) if you have participated in the rally previously. You are responsible for paying the entry fee for your vehicle plus any additional fees for any additional passengers in your vehicle or for your support vehicle.

I'll wait until the truth comes out before passing judgement. The initial report looks lo have come from Metro. Now that's a reliable news source

Bloody rip off too, as said above used to be good, now too commercial and full of tits. Least they have done the decent thing and called it off, wonder if they'll be another although I can see countries/police starting to veto this.

To be honest I wud love to be in the gumball if i had the money. Im not trying to make excuses for the bastards, but i can see how they cud have got caught up in the moment with a lot of quick cars and testosterone about. Although i wud like to be in it, i think it is unsafe and shud be stopped. They shud make it into a track event.

At the end of the day im suprised no-one has killed anoyone yet untill now!

Last year the two major incidents were a Rolls Royce phantom getting written off when taking a corner at over 100mph and dicking it into the crash barrier.

And a lambo spinning out from going far too fast on shit roads.

Luckily no-one was hurt in those two crashes.

But this new crash disgusts me, they tried to make a run for the boarder to leave the country!

Im shocked it hasnt happened sooner, the whole idea about the gumball seems to be to get pissed everynight and then drive silly ammounts of miles on about 3 hours sleep. So your going to be mentally and physicall fucked after a few days!

And this also just goes to prove the old statement, your driving skill dosnt increase with your bank balance

From Metro -
quote:

Morley, who was driving the Porsche at the time of the crash, was remanded in custody for 30 days.

He faces charges which may lead to a one-year jail term, while Mr McConville was released.

Rally organisers insisted their car was not speeding and the pair left the scene for 20 minutes because they were in shock.

you wouldn't necessarily get a year in prison here in the UK.

My half sisters, sister (keep up ) went through a red light and killed a man she only got community service and a fine, she did get banned from driving for a year though for reckless driving.

As bad as it is I think its unfair that people are jumping to idea's of what actually happened without knowing the full story. Granted it doesn't look good for the people leaving the scene but back off until the truth has fully come out "Just incase" it was an perfectly normal accident.

I really hope this isn't the end for Gumball 3000 As I enjoy following the event each year.

Yeah agree Neil, alot of people assuming stuff. I read elsewhere that they waited till the ambulance came, they took the injured, when they realised they were dead they stopped them at the border.

Its all just speculation until something official is said.

Shock perhaps?? At 65 a car crash could trigger heart failure!!

Theres a story shooting about that he had a heart attack & caused the accident...unsure how true that is.

Its also been confirmed on the gumball site the wife has now died of her injuries yesterday some time.....again not sure if thats true.

There is a news thing on AOL saying about the crash. Looks like the Gumballers involved in the accident rang an ambulance and waited for it to arrive. They then left and headed for the border and left a statement with the Police. There were then detained after being informed that one of the locals involved in the accident had died. Not strickley hit and run, but not the best move all the same.
