Haha.. all these are very nice but are way out of my price range and I'd never get insured on any of them.

Not really feeling the Polo's looks mate..

I found this on Auto Trader:

Price:
£990

Features:

* 70,000 miles
* Manual
* WHITE
* Petrol
* 3 Door Hatchback
* K reg (1992)

Full Description:

Manual, 70,000 miles, K reg, In White, Central Locking, Full VW Service History, MOT'd, 2 Owners, Superb Example, Low Insurance, Great first Car, Very Reliable. £990

It's trade though, so over priced? It's only 13 miles from me so I may check it out.

My Corsa is done.

Would the above be a good base to work on though, don't you think?

Ive just got a mk3 vr6. So much nicer inside and to drive than the corsa. I sit in the corsa now and it feels like a piece of shit to be honest. I would have any golf over a corsa now.

I was going to get a mk2 but like you the age put me off.

Get the golf, 306's suck imo

Anyway, back on to the topic. What are the bad points of MK2 and MK3 Golfs?

I don't know of any bad points about the mk2, the mk3 is heavy and generally slow.

That white one oabove would be ok, but i'd look for a better spec one tbh.

He is 17, how do you expect him tho get insured on a 2.0 16v with 170bhp?! I could bring myself to get a deisel yet! When there is no more petrol in the world i'd consider it.

TBH i wouldn't have any other 306 than a rallye or gti6 so don't get one dom! I say get a mk2 driver of ryder, both 1.6 8v's easy to insure, and both have good specs. Or a mk3 1.8 se, basically the spec of a GTI but with out the ingine and insurance costs.

VW golf is probably the best hatchback in the world in terms of reliability.

But get a mk2 ibiza. Same running gear and engine but cheaper and not as common.

Looks like I'm definitely leaning toward a 1997/1998 MK3 Golf.

In comparason to the Corsa, are they spaceous and comfortable inside?

Haha, other than speed are there any bad points?

I just need to wait for the right one to come up now! I want a 97/98 one with power steering, sunroof, leccy windows and remote central locking.
