Christmas 2005 when I worked at Halfords, there was a spread of mince pies etc in the staff room.
As a joke, me and a mate carefully took a mince pie out of its foil, cut it open, and carefully put a 1 pence piece inside, then put it back.
Came into work next evening to do my shift, and theres about 10 carrier bags full of shopping in the staff room.
Turns out, one of the lads who started in the morning, felt a bit peckish, bit into this mince pie, discovered the hidden treat, told to the woman that bought them who then took it to Sainsburys and complained. Few hours later, the sainsburys management had personally delivered all these bags full of sweets, drinks etc as a gesture of good will and a letter saying they would investigate etc.
Me and the lad came clean about 2 weeks later, everyone took it in good spirit thankfully.
