LOL I wish SVM, im really wanting something under 5yrs old which offers a bit of performance without being too thirsty. M5 would be ace but not if im doing alot of miles.
Saying that a guy I used to work beside just got one, trading in his astra VXR But then hes also got a land rover for doing the miles & hes got a sporty bike aswell.

The V8 E39's (535i and 540i) have different steering racks to cope with the extra weight and apparently drive completely differently, so remember that

How about a nice diesel One Col?
They do a 530d don't they?
The BMW diesels are awesomely good engines and in a 5 series it will be reasonable on juice and pretty rapid still but comfy and safe too.

The bigger engined diesels (3.0 jobbies) are meant to be awesome but not that economical iirc?
Lovely cars, love the e39 shape

Nice, I'd want a 535 though. 2.5 will be sluggish in a 5 series.
Get an A4 1.8T Quattro

Love that model 5-series. The interior is much nicer than the current one.

Good choice!
My Dad had a 535iS. It was an awesome car. Went like holy hell, and handled amazing for a big car. Looked stunning in Metallic Black. All the toys, Sat nav, TV, electric seats, leather etc.
It was a 51 plate with 63,000 miles, FBMWSH. He sold it for £11500. Somone had a right bargain.

i had one an m-reg and 1 of the cylinder heads went..repair bill was in the thousands due to labour
great car to drive but to dam expensive if anything goes wrong and the fact mines had only done about 80thousand miles and was 5 years old at the time would mean id seriously be put of older/higher milage ones
like said above tho 530d
