I do have work ambitions but i'm easily distracted, it's usually there fault for putting me on low profile projects that I know won't return any loud enough noises from the management. When I have something big to work on I can;t help but do my best

If i'm busy at work, the day goes quicker, I get more things done, I meet my targets and keep my boss happy, I get my payrise, that keeps me interested, so i'm happy to keep myself busy, and the cycle starts again.

I wouldn't say I felt guilty, more so paranoid that everyone else in the office thinks I'm a cunt when I'm talking and having a bit of a laugh in the office too much... but then soon after I think fuck it, they're a bunch of miserable old farts and why should I care what they think? As long as I'm getting away with it it's ok!
Also... 'work to live, not live to work'... people who love their jobs and have their lives revolving around their jobs annoy me... I guess it's partly because I wish I could be the same, it would be great to be enjoying your job, but I don't posess the drive or ambition to be like these kinds of people! Doesn't help me that my job is dull as ditchwater and I'm on a crap wage I guess!

exactly how i feel.
I also enjoy the job which definatly helps.

But then when you have 4 holidays you will want 8, and when you have 8 you will want 16, where does it stop?
hell yes, if i could strive to have 8 holidays by taking even more work on then its worth it.
If you want the nicities of life you have to work for them. If your happy doing the hours and not the job just to take home the same wage then thats yourself, but thats definatly not me.

I wouldn't feel guilty. It would however make me wonder whether I'm doing the best I can in life.
See, I don't get that. Work is the smallest part of my life, I talk to nobody and my life starts when I get home. As long as my work pays for my lifestyle why should I care what I'm doing? If I'm being paid to sit on my arse and talk crap on here and tick boxes and I can have 2 holidays a year, a place of my own and 2 cars then who am I to complain?

Amen Willay, I spend majority of my spare time studying, doing exams, degrees etc., all so that I can do the things I really want to and pay for the things I want
All about career progression

See i get on really well with my boss's, i work for a relatively small company so it's quite personal and team orientated and we all work our arses off and work long hours, when i was working in sales i tried to doss as much as possible, was getting paid lots and going away on exhibitions on weekends which turned into piss up lads nights and i felt shit at my job, i much prefer feeling like i'm good at what i'm doing and working hard, whilst staying on cs all day!

I sit at work bored and do nothing most of the time... This isn't because I'm lazy or because I can't achieve better.
Most jobs I'm given are easy, I could have them all completed in hours... So as a result I stretch the jobs out for as long as I can, until a really decent job gets given to me and then I'll work to my fullest.
If at any point I run out 'of things to do' I get given really shit tasks I definately see below me.
I honestly can't wait to leave and get a better job that pays more / requires more of me / is doing what I want to be doing.

I see! I would quite like to work like that, doing long stretches away then coming home for a period before your next project!
