Lisa - its true. They do seem to be built a hell of a lot better than most other non-jap cars.

I'd have an Evo 6 and a P1 after i'd bought a concourse example of every RWD and 4WD RS ever made.

Misguided by the fact that an Evo or Impreza is a more reliable and quicker car in standard form I agree though if I had the money I'd rather have an RS500.

Just stats mate, cant change the fact its a japanese chav mobile.
Made me laugh on monday seeing the only Impreza being lapped by the bigger guns at the rallycross. The car park had a ratio of about 9 to 1 on imprezas to any other car. All younger lads aswell which says it all.

An impreza/EVO is a modern car.

Now that is a nice car :-)
And your right about the noise of the Scooby and how common they are..... not sure about the scooby reliability or it's gold wheels either .....

they are reliable if you look after them
i.e dont just turn up the boost and thrash it from cold with mucky old oil.
I serviced our old Impreza TypeR every 3000 miles. It was heavy on fuel, tyres, clutches etc but nothing too drastic. Same as an Evo.
Lesser spec'd impreza's (not so high revving etc) dont need as strict a service plan.
Either way i dont think you can go wrong with both cars. Test drive both, pick the one that suits you best
Budget?

Budget undisclosed as yet. Will wait to see if my redundancy package is as I think it should be (got over 10 years service and one of the benefits of increased age is..... increased payout lol). Then, once I know this, I will have a look around a) to find another job and b) to see what is around the 2nd hand market at the time. Just about to move house so mortgage dropping down and we have no other outgoings (other than Jay's car!!!) soooooo, time to play. Quite happy to wait for the right car to come along at the right price as opposed to rushing out and getting one purely cos it's an Evo or Scooby. Does that make sense? Refuse to buy for the sake of it.
It's been in interesting read.... and certainly given me loads to think about, even possible alternatives... now that would upset Jay.
