no jr you dont want to work earlier, I'm currently exploring a theory that my shift work is slowly killing me from the inside out.

aint too bad I guess, I do 8hr shift, but an hour of that is suppose to be lunch (I just work through it while eating my lunch at my desk unless I'm taking someone out/seeing someone).
Its a good shift to be fair, cause I can still get stuff done in the afternoons and evenings but ultimately you'll mind fuck yourself without getting proper sleep (6-7 hours ISNT enough )
when I move over to the other shift I'm normally up early still, pop to the gym before I get the train to work and stuff. guh I dunno

6-7 is enough if not too much for me, Wouldnt mind doing a shift like yours as id still be able to do stuff in the afternoons. but it would be pointless as none of the other depts would be in the upload bank statements etc etc so it's never gona happen here.

can always ask, the scary thing I've seen in the last 3 years of working with electronic trading is the hours expanding. The majority (if not all) of the exchanges like LIFFE, EUREX, CME, ICE are running 24/7 helpdesks/NOCS to ensure everything is running correctly which I can understand, but now the exchanges are offering products/contracts to trade for 22-23 hours a day, leaving only a couple of hours for maintenance.
If the trend continues and we get more clients then we'll have to look into implementing a 24/5 desk, night shift

to add to that, even without the above exchanges offering 22 hours of trading, normally round the world when a exchange closes in say, London, another one is mid way through the trading day like in Chicago, then when Chicago is closing you have Japan and Sydney still operating. When I'm getting ready in the morning Asia is closing its markets and the European ones are just opening.. around 7/8am.
