25th Hour - Tells the aftermath/outcome
Donnie Brasco - Portrays gangster life
Dog Day Afternoon - Failed bank robbery
Essex Boys - Gritty crime
Goodfellas - Similar to Donnie Brasco
Killing Zoe - Bank robbery, fairly low budget
The Long Good Friday - Classic
Millers Crossing - Mobs
Once Upon A Time In America - Classic
Road To Perdition - Mobs
The Untouchables - Prohibition Chicago

Heat- you could do lots with that film -gets better every time I watch it.

Are you allowed to do a tv series - if so get hold of "the wire" from HBO- Best tv series ever- goes into serious detail over drug usage, selling and prevention....awesome.

shooters has the best reviews out of em:

For me Shooters is by far the realist British gangster film made yet. The realism is remarkable and at times you could be forgiving for thinking your are watching one of these docu-soaps that are so popuplar nowadays. A good storyline and a cast of non-actors that give very convincing performances to say the least. Shooters shows the pure reality of modern day Inner City life. A big ten out of ten !!

One of the realists films. Shows a snap shot of underworld life in liverpool and the gun culture amoung gangsters and petty thugs.

The cast are non actors but everyday underworld members who bring a touch of realism to their roles.

i thought the ending wasn't great and 1 or two of the deleated scenes could have been added so the audience could get a better understanding of Johns character, but i managed to follow it fine and have an understanding into the world the director was portraying.

i also feel that it could have been more violent and crude to really reflect real life.

with a small budget and no trained actors, i think this is a classic film. the acting is great and the characters are excellent

if you love gangster, real life flicks or wanna hear some great dialogue you must see this

Need to top this as Its sort of gone away from what I need to write about

Its not about which is the best film, or who was the best baddy. It needs to be about the ideas of crime that it portrays, how it glorifies it & how its portrayed in the media

Someone has already done the Godfather

The poinbts they talked about were:

When it was made (Not just the year but also how influential it was based on that era)

How it affected peoples perception of certain groups - eg all italian americans are involved with crime

Any mistakes that were made/people make about it (Eg people think the mafia came from Italy, it didn't. There are also other mafia's)

So as you can see its not so much about the film & it6s cast, its more about the image it ghave of that particular crime & how it was recieved by the media & public

So, any suggestions
