I think completly the opposite

Depends what look you want I suppose, the 4 looks far more rally car than a 3, you cant disagree that!!

What a standard evo 3 bumper with spot lights?

I just think the one at the top looks like a kit with Halfords spot lamps more than the one Colin posted which looks mean and rally looking.

Evo III will be way cheaper to run in theory than a IV onwards. No AYC means no need for servicing every 4.5k miles, just really an oil change every 6-7k miles. Parts are cheap, they are light too so tune them up and they do go well.

If you want newer then I personally wouldn't go for a IV - The engines are as strong as the V onwards and a V can be had for cheapish money now.

As said above, the Lancer Register is where it's at.

5 is the one its consider owning and onwards...

3 just doesnt cut it....

If... IF... you want to look after it it WILL cost a fair bit to run.

Optimax/V-Power with booster (£12 bottle which does about 6 tanks )
Oil change every 3k miles
They 'need' good tyres and looked after suspension parts to keep them handling well...

If your getting by on corsa running costs, and have just enough money to BUY one.... dont....

Can i ask why you think the 3s dont cut it? I appriciate there not going to be good as the later models but surely that doesnt make them bad cars . Why is there need for the additive in the fuel?

they will be (if not remapped) mapped for Japanese fuel. UK fuel is a good few Ron/Octane rating lower. DET ISNT GOOD

My Comment about them not cutting is purely my opinion. I think they look very dated, verging on ghastly. I think most people buy them blinkered into the fact they are buying an EVO.... As many people have said the IV is much better. I wouldnt buy one older than a V.

I have no idea on the price differences between III, IV and V though.

Yeah, that's why I got a classic scoob.

The fact is, they used the same shape from '93 right up to 2000 (except different bonnet) so they never looked dated. Where as that pic of the evo3, you just know it's an old tub of shite.
