IIRC- One manufacturer- Bridgestone
In a race each car must change the compound of the tyre at least once i.e they can do a stint of the race in a hard compound (slower speeds and handling but can stay out for more laps) and then change to soft compound (faster and handle better but wear quickly).
Which part of the race and for how long is up to the team so adds in an extra eliment of strategy and should encourage more overtaking.

Regardless of the truth it will og nowhere, how dare a company enter and then immediately try and discredit them
Mosley won't take kindly to that Im sure
(PS I disagree with the whole privateering side of things with people now allowed affiliate teams etc)
Honda looks gash!!

Yeh I'm backing hamiton...
I've got a bet on hamilton... £50 EW bet...
Essentially if Hamilton wins I get £320. If he comes 2nd or 3rd I get something like £75-£100.
He's gonna have something to prove. His car is quick and he definately has the talent, so providing he doesn't smash it or get knocked off by someone else then I reckon he'll be top 3.

Aren't they using "seamless" gearboxes this year?
Also anyone know where you can look at the new rulings for this season? know they have switched over to the single tyre manufacturer and multiple tyre compounds, but just curious on the other stuff.
Line up looks good though, plus its good to see four brits in this season. Shame that honda has gone for reliability this year, so i don't think Button has a chance this year

"The major changes involve a shake-up of the safety-car, engine, and tyre regulations.
The safety car rules for next season will ensure that the race field is in order behind the safety car without lapped cars caught in between the frontrunners. This will allow for the race action to resume immediately once the safety car is called in. It will also remove all incentive for cars to be driven quickly back to the pits for refuelling when the safety car is deployed.
Before the safety car returns to the pits any lapped car between cars running on the lead lap must pass those cars and the safety car. It may then proceed around the track to take up position at the back of the line of frontrunning cars.
The tyre regulations have changed following the introduction of a single-tyre supplier in 2007. That supplier, which is Bridgestone for 2007 to 2010, may only provide two specifications of tyre at each Grand Prix. The quantity of dry-weather tyres each driver may use has been increased from seven sets to 14, with a maximum of four sets available to each driver for the first day of practice and 10 for the remainder of the event.
In practice, teams will be limited to two cars per session. A nominated third driver or either race driver can use these cars in the session, and the two free practice sessions on the first day of practice have been extended from one hour to ninety minutes each.
The two-race engine regulations will now only apply to the second day of practice and the day of the race. Engines homologated and used during the last two Events of 2006 must now be used during the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons.
In another change, the stewards may now impose grid place penalties as well as time penalties as was previously the case.
A number of sporting regulation changes were also approved for the 2008 season onwards. The FIA ECU will be fitted for all testing in addition to races. A 10-place grid penalty will be issued for an engine change, as opposed to a weight penalty. A five-place grid penalty will be issued for a gearbox change, as opposed to a weight penalty."

Not sure about the safety car rule, sounds a bit gay, if you're 3 laps down, you can make it up under the safety car
How odd.

quote: Rule changes
Although the FIA had planned to introduce a regulation single tyre manufacturer from 2008, there will be a sole supplier (Bridgestone) from 2007 to 2010, since Bridgestone's only rival, Michelin, ended their participation in Formula 1 after the 2006 season.
Tyres will be supplied in accordance with the revised Sporting Regulations, which provide for a total of 14 sets of dry weather tyres per driver over the race weekend: four sets for Friday only, and 10 for the rest of the weekend.
The teams finishing 5th–11th in the previous seasons' Constructors' Championship will no longer be allowed to run a third car on Friday following a rule change.[35] The teams that finish 1st–4th are already banned from doing so.
Engine development will be frozen from the 2006 Japanese Grand Prix, with these engines being used for the whole of 2007 and 2008. This is described as engine "homologation" by the FIA. It was previously set to be introduced in 2008.
All cars will be fitted with red, blue and yellow cockpit lights. The purpose is to give drivers information concerning track signals or conditions. The lights must be LEDs each with a minimum diameter of 5mm and which are fitted in order that they are directly in the driver’s normal line of sight.
In order to give rescue crews an immediate indication of accident severity each car must be fitted with a warning light which is connected to the FIA data logger. The light must face upwards and be recessed into the top of the survival cell no more than 150mm from the car centre line and the front of the cockpit opening and as near to the marshal neutral switch as is practical.
The two Friday practice sessions will expand from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. Any team will be allowed to use two cars, which may be driven by either the two race drivers or a nominated third driver.[38]
The engine penalty will now only apply in the second day of the grand prix weekends. Any engine change in the first day will not be penalised.
No car will be allowed to enter the pits during a safety car period until all cars are in the group following the safety car. This prevents drivers from racing to the pits immediately after a safety car is deployed. In addition, any lapped cars in front of a car on the lead lap will be required to pass the safety car and restart at the end of the line-up instead of maintaining their physical position.
The Formula 1 teams have unanimously agreed to the voluntary early introduction of the testing agreement scheduled for 2008. This limits each team to an annual limit of 30,000 km.
The team's second car will now have to run with a yellow coloured roll bar instead of a black one. The first cars will still run with a red/orange roll bar. This is intended to help spectators distinguish between first and second cars at further distances.

sounds a bit cack to be honest, i know they are looking to add stability control to the cars within the next few years, which would be absolute pointless
It does seem that the FIA is making F1 too safe, which kind of beats the objective of the old days of the driver actually having to have some skill in controller the car.
Still the season looks alright, plus ITV are going all 90's on us with using the FOM feeds, so finally widescreen

I think they should go back to 1.5 litre turbo engines and slick slicks. Or at least go back to the 90's rules, 1994 would work.
