open as many programs / files as possible and yank the power cord out of the PC, failing that, just take the side of the case off an important pc, unscrew the hard drive, leave the exposed metal / circuit areas on a metal part of the chassis and boot it up..

Will smoke a hard drive good.

Quit. All that for 12k? Could get a job Resourcing for a recruitment agency for Ł18k with scope to move into a consultancy role. You seem to have your head screwed on so don't see any issues.

Ok I'm annoyed now. We have a temp in the print room and the guy in charge of drawing control (not the CAD guy who won't give me more money) has asked him if he wants to apply. Bearing in mind I've done the job for over a year, run round after everyone but they won't commit me to the job or give me more money, because they'd rather use me to do the job no one else wants to.

I'll now be working on updating my CV.

just come out directly and ask why they wont consider you.

If they dont have a good answer then tell them your not happy with current roll/wage and either give you a raise or you'll quit. Give them a deadline and if they dont take your written notice in and throw it in his face.

I've now had a word with the guy in charge of Drawing Control and said I want more money, he said he knows I'm frustrated and agrees with me. Says hes going to have a word with the manager. Don't know what good it will do. I think I've made my feelings clear though.

I would leave today, go to the solicitors and file a claim for constructive dismissal.... from what I can gather it sounds like they are doing all they can to make you unhappy and your job as a whole unbearable....

may be an idea....opinions welcome

I think it could be complicated though.

They took me on to see if I was capable of doing the job, which I was/am. They extended my employment but then the guy I replaced came back, leaving me in the position I am now. Now that he has left my supervisor (Drawing Control manager) told me I would be back doing what I did previously, my other pc lacks licences for some software. I'm still doing the Estimating work though which disrupts the work I do in Design. The CAD manager said if it wasn't for the Estimating work I wouldn't have a job. He wants me doing that and get someone else to do the job I'm doing thus shoving me back in the corner doing odds and sods.

So at the moment I don't really know what my job is, my title is Assistant Drawing Controller, I really need to see if my contract includes the Estimating work.
