Funny its all the northeners who love League..
I've played League, you run at someone as hard as possible, get tackled, give the ball to someone else. Theres no skill or flair there.
Union shows skills and flair. Its only the few who's made the lucky transition (Robinson etc). The others i've never thought of being that good, in fact, i don't even really rate robinson, he's got a good step on him, something thats vital in a lot of sports.
England were never going to win against Ireland at home. But Ireland shouldn't have lost against france and blew the 6 nations by being lazy. Completly stuffed the english. Just goes to show that England need to score tries opposed to using wilkinson all the damn time.
France will win the nations now and go in as hot contenders for the world cup this year.
JR, tell your brother to give me damn tickets then. £15, after the world cup, over £100. Rediculas.

funny all the southerners love union.....
I've played Union You Catch the ball (dont run at anyone) kick it. They kick it back and so forth And when you do get Tackled you also just put the ball back for someone else and a mass pile on occurs, someone knocks on nobody notices, someone throws a foreward pass nobody bothers and then kick again
TBH Rugby Union was the slowest most laughable sport I'm yet to play. The players who play pro are so un-skilled in catching and passing it's untrue.
Robinson I'll let you know was nothing special in League, he was quick off the mark, good step, but got murdered by defences after people became weary.
All of a sudden he goes to Union and you lot think he's a worldbeater Shows how poor the rest of your players are!!
Farrell Had basically retired, you lot snap him up and he plays internationally When he's not fit to carry the water in League anymore (hence your game is slow and skills levels are poor)
I've watched the top amatuer Union Sides here as some mates play for them and it's truely hilarious how poor it is (Union seems more for the social side), They come watching us and are quite open with the fact we play a ten times more intense sport.
Why if Union is better than League do you continually need to Buy our ex players as coaches and retired players for superstars?

League has a much preferred support In Australia and New Zealand......
I beleive it doesn't have the support here purely due to the media and the history.
League was created to allow working men to play professional. It was strongly varied from Union to be more intense and ENTERTAINING. Union people (mainly toffs) tunred their nose up at it and wouldn't allow any League player in a union club ect.
Media tends to be ran by southerners (therefore toffs ) and fleet street buddys. so they refuse to market League hence why the League team in team of the year got about 30 seconds highlights yet still won

You call the scottish southern?
You call Newcastle, southern?
Kicking is about gaining field possesion. UNderstand the game, actually watch it and understand the rules and u'll understand why its done. No different from after the 5th tackle rule in RL, except rather than having 5 tackles, you can try to win the ball back at the 1st.
Union is slow? OK during the pauses it is, but during gameplay it definatly isn't I found RL much easier to play and much less exhausting. I remember your quickest RL player (M Offiah) getting stuffed by the tiny Underwood who also out-paced him during the RL + RU contest matches. I know, i was there watching it.
Andy Farrell was a tester, i've not rated him once, and u'll find many true RU supports will feel the same way. He has not performed, shouldn't have been in the squad at all IMO.
Its strange. I think RL's League games are of higher quality, but RU games don't seem to have any high flair or skill at them (ok the occcasional, but that can be said for RL as well) but RU international games are MUCH higher quality than that of RL international games. Just watch the Tri-Nations games and this years world cup. England arn't performing this year (or last) and i don't hold much faith for this years cup, but not to say its not going to be a good tournment due to other teams. But i have to say the skill level is much higher.
Remember, you don't have dummy miss looping type moves, things get complicated, people drop the ball. In RL if you drop the ball, you loose possession, where-as in Union its not the case.
We? (when did I get to own a team?).
AS i've said, RL players are big hitters, some teams want that from a player, others don't. Others want pace and flair. You need to have much more of a thinking brain on you for RU as you can do so much more than you can league.
RU was also an upper class game don't forget, and it was a way of the working class to introduce their own style of the game. Thats how RL was formed, so its always going to appeal to the northeners more (not being degrading to any part of the country, just read your history).
So
RL - Harder hitting game.
RU - More skill needed, higher class playing.
I remember playing for country, the RL people came and took all the physcos (London Broncos) away from us, we lost a lot of strength in our team, but made up for it as the more skillfull people shone better. We also lost a lot of negative attitudes from the team. Maybe that was just the Bromley/Ravenswood area though

Well I've played with player who have been picked for England RU, yet when they played league they looked amatuer and i mean lacked basic skills the league players took for granted.
TBH it's more
RL harder hitting game, faster more intense attacking and in general better ball handling skills. Not technical though
RU Slower yet far more technical ie scrums are technical, rucks, all about feild position, technical kicking line outs ect

I really don't think you know what your saying with lines like that.... I grew up on a council estate, i'd hardly call me posh....
And? I used to play with a lot of players than went proffessional, and i'd hardly call them tarts either. Andy being one of them. Sevenoaks player (his mum n dad were rich though ) He used to be more ginger. Was a cracking bloke thoguh, the kinda guy everyone liked. I think Dave Flatman was the guest on Sky Sports on saturday at the Leciester/NHampton game as well. He was the year above though..
