Yeah i'd like to know this too if they are just a harmless addition to your diet to get more protein. Its not possible for me at the moment to eat loads of chicken and eggs, although i try to eat as much as i can.

been training for about 3 years now and taken variations of creatine over the years ( powder, tablets etc).
I have been takeing Kre-Alkalyn 2500 Mega Caps since last summer and they are the best thing that I have found out of the lot.
Easy to take ( no laoding fase with them, 2 in the morning and 2 before training.
They have given me the best boost I have ever had in terms of size and strength. (can find them at www.olimp-supplements.com)

with this I have also been taking the new Reflex Whey protean mix. Its the highest amount of protean found in and mix for shakes with no carbs, good for trying to loose weight aswell as wanting the extra protean for bulk and muscle strngth etc. im having 4 a day pluss my diet.
Make sure you get lots of water into you when training and taking these supliments im currently drinking 3-4 l of water a day

Oooh i might have to look into this Reflex Whey sounds good, i'm on my cutting diet so don't really want the carbs at the moment.
I injured my back 10 days ago and was off work a week, so i lost a weeks progress which is annoying didn't eat my diet or anything whilst i was ill as i was bed ridden.
Just started it again today as im going to the gym today.

Only supplements i take are multivitamin with ginseng in the morning and 3 shakes during the day. 1 in morning, 1 pre-work out, 1 post workout. I'll post my diet/calorie intake stats.

My original BMR stats when worked out came out like this:
BMR Calories: 2559
Adjusted Cal(for cut): 2059 - i'll round it up to 2100
Macro: 206g Protein & Carbs, 46g Fat

I have come up with this plan now:

Breakfast - 6.30/7am

1 x Multivitamin + Ginseng
50g (3/4 Cup) Oatmeal = 165 cal / 6g P / 26.5g C / 3.9g F
300ml (1 1/2 Cup) Skimmed Milk = 37 cal / 10.8g P / 14.7g C / 0.9g F
1 Med Banana = 100cal / 20.9 Sugar / 0.3 F
1 Scoop Whey = 85 cal / 16.5 P / 1.9 C / 1.3 F

Snack - 9.30/10am

1 Multigrain Bar = 90 cal / 1.3 P / 17.6 C / 1.6 F
25g Serving Nuts = 175 cal / 4.3 P / 0.8 C / 17.1 F
2 Hardboiled Eggs = 154 cal / 12.5 P / 1.1 C / 10.5 F

Lunch/Pre-Workout - 12/12.30pm

2 Scoops Whey = 170 cal / 33 P / 3.8 C / 2.6 F
2 Slices Wholemeal Bread = 184 cal / 9 P / 31.4 C / 2.6 F
3 Slices Turkey Rasher = 75 cal / 14.7 P / 0.4 C / 0.4 F

WORKOUT - 1-2pm

PWO - 2/2.30pm

25g (1/3 Cup) Oatmeal = 82.5 cal / 3 P / 13.25 C / 1.9 F
2 Scoops Whey = 170 cal / 33 P / 3.8 C / 2.6 F
1 Scoop Dextrose = ????????????????????? - need to get some
1 Apple = 81 cal / 0.2 P / 0.4 F

Dinner - 5.30/6pm

100g Grilled Chicken = 160 cal / 33.3 P / 0 C / 2.7 F
100g Broccoli = 30 cal / 3.3 P / 2.3 C / 0.9 F
75g Brown Rice = 265 cal / 5.2 P / 55.5 C / 2.1 F

Bedtime - 9/9.30pm

100g Natural Greek Style Yoghurt = 80 cal / 5.7 P / 8.2 C / 2.7 F

TOTALS: 2011 cal / 191.8g pro / 171.7g carb / 54.5g fat

My protein from shakes is shit due to the shit whey im using. Once i've changed it to a good one i'll be doing even better

I've completely messed up my body, used to be so toned doing martial arts and going to the gym, was so flexible it was unreal, since the summer i haven't really been doing anything and have eaten like a mofo, i tried doing weights and some sit ups / press ups last night as i'm determined to get back in shape, i managed 20 press ups, 50 sit ups. Was nakered!

Never tried any of these suppliments, i take it you take them along side exersise?

What exactly do they do?

*regarding progress pics*
im gonna wait a couple of months as i have only really got into the swing of this. Been going for 3 months now but im only just sorting my lifestyle.

diet is all good, i have been looking at the Reflex protein, looks pretty good. very potent

im taking in around 1600 cal (cos i need to cut a lot of fat) and around 105g of protein. ITs working, cos i have gone from a 42" waist to a 37".. still got a way to go tho.

Mate did you work out your BMR etc before? 1600 cal sounds like a big calorie defecit. You should only decrease it by 500 usually max seeing as you exercise/lift too you burn off even more. If you take to much of a defecit your body will go into a catabolic state and burn muscle instead of fat, which you don't want obviously as you want more lean muscle mass to speed your metabolism up and burn fat easier.

I only decreased mine around 400 because i go to the gym every lunch time and burn off on average 300-500 calories there through cardio/lifting. So i'm losing around 700-900 calories a day but not just through dieting, and as my diet is high protein too it helps me build muscle easier. I don't weight myself (only once a week) as you probablyl alread know you can lose fat/weight but still stay the same due to putting muscle on. It takes 3500 calorie defecit to lose 1lb of fat, and its recommended you don't lose more than 2lb a week due to the muscle deteriorating. So i'm im losing 700 a day x 5 days a week training i'm losing the 1lb of fat, but if i do more i lose even more but don't go over the 2lb of fat a week.

in your first week you'll lose loads of weight due to water weight and the first intial bit. I lost 7lb in the first week but that was mainly water weight. Now i lose around 1/2lb a week but have gained muscle, also if you go to the gym see if they can get your body fat % measured, and get it done every month then you can see if you are really losing fat or muscle.

CupraSteve i know what you mean, i was one of the youngest in my county to reach black belt (age 14) and i did karate for over 7 yrs, but at the age of 18 i had to have a knee op which fucked it all up and i had to quit, couldn't do sport/exercise for 2 yrs, right at the age of the beer drinking stage so i put on quite a bit! Its only this yr i've been able to exercise properly so gotta work it all back off! But its easier if you had the muscles to start as its quicker to gain them back than to build them up from the start!

shit i typed alot

one of my mates reached black belt in karate at a young age, Joe McNeilis??? Not sure on the spelling of his surname but you might no him! I basically broke my leg, stopped cricket, football, choi kwang do, and the gym, now a heffa and i don't want to be.

I think i'll start a new martial arts soon. Just wondered whats the crack with all these supliments? Do they work? like the ones in Holland & Barrett?

Supplements only work if your using them with a proper eating plan/workout regime. I use whey protein (its powder you mix with milk/water and its like a shake) because i work all day so can't make some nice chicken/turkey/tuna etc each time i need it. Plus its a good way to get some protein in with ease to bump your numbers up. I only have 3 a day, sometimes 4 if i do more cardio later in the evening. I also take a multivitamin to make sure i get my daily amount in, and i have just started taking fish oil/flax seed oil as i dont eat much salmon/oily fish.
Again you can get fat burning supplements but imo these are shit, they don't do much and some can be more harm than good.

Don't know his name, but if he did tournaments in London etc then I might of fought him, depends on his age/belt etc. I'm going to start Tae Kwon Do in a few months time as Dave Honey (ex UK TKD champion for a few years) teaches down the road from me, so i'll join that. But i aint joinin until i'm back fitter else i'll hate it struggling along!

Yellow belt ay Marc, bet you would beat Chuck Norris :-P

My little nephew does it. He's getting quite good!!! bloody 9 year old always wants to fight me!!!

So there isn't any point in supliments unless i'm going to the gym doing a set workout?

I need a gym buddy!!

Yeh theres no point taking supplements if your not going to do cardio/gym at least 3/5 times a week. For the first month you can do alot of progress just using a program called Rippetoes Program which is just simple exercises, 2 workout plans, 5 sets of 5 reps just doing simple free weight exercises like Bench press, Squats, Deadlift, Roman Lift etc if you go to www.bodybuilding.com and on the forums under fat loss etc theres alot of information, i spent a good 2/3 weeks reading everything i could.
I had tried diets/training before but got no results as i wasn't doing the right stuff etc, after the weeks of reading i now know alot and know what im doing it feels good!

My two house mates slated me at first because of the stuff i was eating/buying and doing, then after like 3 weeks they wanted in. But haven't stuck to it as they can't be assed to read anything.

theres a few types of TKD, the choi kwang do you used to do is a form of TKD.

*edit* yeh gym buddy is good because you compete with them and get them to help. I don't go with one because i motivate myself but theres people at the gym i go to who are helpful and been doing body building for years so taught me alot too

Im trying to bulk up at the moment too. Only started last week really. Im 6 foot 7 or 8 inches and only weigh 11 stone. Been like it for years. Haven't started usuing my suppliments yet as im having some heart test at hospital next week. But after that im going to use them and try to get some weight on. Going to the gym 3 times a week at the mo.

Was reading a website and the owner of the site said that he was putting on 3lbs a week. Is that a realistic figure? I go on holiday in June, so im hoping that i'll have put some weight on by then.

Not sure about bulking stages on a healthy amount to put on. I don't think it matters how much you put on as long as your working out and making most of it into muscle. You need to clean bulk too, so many people think they can bulk by just eating shit food and doing nothing and then burn it off, but it dont work like that.
Just eat healthy food but you need to eat alot of it, check the link i posted and read the forums, will tell you more than i can. Its worth it though. Bulking is different as you have to ADD 500 calories a day of food on or even more if your working out too, and you have to eat more carbs than protein usually.

You got 4 months, so thats plenty of time to see some progress if you doing it the right way, you need to set goals too. Not like ones that say "I will put on weight" need to set specific ones to keep you going, like "I WILL have put on 5lbs by XXX date"

When your getting heart monitored, ask if they could do a body fat % test too (only takes a few min)

*edit* remember too because your tall its harder to look more bulky because of the height. Just gotta keep at it, you can't look at it as a "diet" it needs to be a lifestyle that you follow!

Yes 11 stone is underweight for a 6ft 7/8" person.

http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/body_weight/healthy_weight/chart.htm

For a 6' 5" Person normal weight is between 12-14 stone. So for 6ft 7 i'd guess its more around the 12.5-15 stone mark

It is seriously under weight, this is why i have got to go have heart tests. There's a syndrome calles marphans syndrome which is common in tall people. One of the valves in the heart gets really stretched and becomes a real weak spot. Could lead to it splitting, which would cause death. Which is nice Hoping i haven't got it though.

Im eating a lot healthier now than i used to. Eating 5-6 meals a day etc. Tuner sandwiches for lunch, chicken breasts, potatoes etc.
