Wrong. I've done it twice and both times recieved full pay from the courts and very generous expenses.

all depends what you consider good pay, if your on a decent wage, ie 35k a year then it will be shit, its fixed at something like £5 an hour so not fair on the people who earn a lot and good for people who earn nothing

Says the case is scheduled to last 2 weeks + maybe a few days thereafter
Anyway she's not wanting to go so what excuse can she have to get out of this???
How does she know the case? You don't know until you arrive at court for your first day. She may not have a single case to deal with, or, she could get 2 or 3 over the fortnight, its luck of the draw.

The maximum the court/gov can pay you is something like £58 a day

I've done it... being called onto a case is a good thing really... otherwise you just have to sit in a room all day with a bunch of strangers, just waiting to see if your name is called out... I'm quite shy aswell so didn't mix with the other people much. I ended up going home quite early a lot of the time though, compared to finishing work at 5pm, which is a bonus.

I'd love to do it, it would make a change from sitting next to the prisoner. Guilty

In that case maybe the rates are decided by individual courts, although that would suprise me.

Maybe you got lucky when you filed your claim the maximum they pay out is a set fee i believe regardless of the court.

Nothing can prepare you for the sort of detail they go into. You must be used to it though lol.

It's never nice hearing details of a rape case but whats worse is when the victim is under 10 years old and trying to explain what happened...

Pointless because you'll just get questioned. Then if you do get away with it you'll just get called into another court room for another new trial.
