Dont they usually use cars like Audi's BMW's and Range Rovers and stuff like that for ringer cars? Not a 12v Corsa? lol

VIN is Vehicle Identification Number, the same number as whats on the bottom of your windscreen.

Maybe your cars been in a bump, and had a new front panel and not had the VIN re-riveted back on.

The metal plate which holds my battery in place is covered in rust. Is there any easish way to remove this ? And will anything serious happen if i don't ? Like the battery collapsing on top of the engine ?

Wonderboy - check the bottom of your drivers door pillar. There might be a black sticker with the VIN number on and other figures; that is your VIN plate. Well it is on mine anyway, as it's a 2000 W.

Get a badgeless grill - cheap mod at only £20ish.

although im not sure why the slam panel isnt plated back up correctly with the vin plate thats just making it look dodgy when it most probably isnt.

Not really, probably means the car has had a little bump in the past and the garage that fitted the new slam panel forgot to put the plate back on. Might confuse the Police if they need to have a look, but the engine number is on the engine, the chassis number is on the chassis and these details are all on the V5 which has your number plate on it too so you don't need to worry too much. I think...
