Bonnets can usually be popped fairly easy if you know what your doing.
Interesting point Fad, but
Not sure on the legalities behind it all TBH. I know being the registered keeper on the V5 document, doesnt make you the legal owner of the car, as that resided with the person who payed the money for it.
not true
if my dad bought me a car in my name, im responsible for it - tax, insurance etc
So why do all vauxhall alarms, even with ultrasonics inside the car, have bonnet switches incase the bonnets opened without gaining access to the car . Vauxhall are tight bastards, they wouldnt fit it if they didn't need to!
You may well be responsible for it, but in a court of law, your dad could still take it back off you if he wanted. The V5 is a document for the registered keeper, not the owner, it's just usually the people are one and the same .

Is it really worth it for a Rover? Even if it is free?
Plus your girlfriend might be moving but it wouldnt take Columbo to track down her new address.
Really worth the risk if this guy is bothered about his Rover? It'll be your bird that'll get the late night visit from Mr Rover asking for the keys to his pride and joy.

Way I see it if he's bothered to go to the trouble of having it sorned recently hes hardly going to allow someone to claim the V5 when the letter pops through the door informing him
Not that I think you can while its sorned, im sure its to be out of tax & forgotton about!!

Thinking about it, seeing its a rover the head gaskets probably just went & the guy doesnt have the money nor the time to have it fixed or uplifted yet - its maybe just broken down & sat round from his mates house or something

Aye, it works, old man took ownership of a motorcycle that had been left on the side of the road. Nothign special, an old MZ350, but he used it for work for the next 3 years and it never went wrong. Veyr cheap motoring for him for a while
But this was back in 1995-7 odd so maybe things have changed.
