I'd have another 1.6, but it would have to be quick
Not a 106GTi, too much to insure, and too french

6n

6n2

I prefer the curviness of the bumper on the 6n, and it looks better on BBS splitties than the 6n2

6n is most certainly nicer, but i think the n2 is also very nice!
how do they compare performance wise?
ive taken all things into factor with my car buying, i dont like the look of the xsara as standard but i know I like the performance figures and they can be made to look quite nice..
but....
THE DECISION IS YOURS!

They're not that quick really, but quicker than my C.
I really don't know what to do, if I get a lupo, will I struggle for space? Will I enjoy a Polo? Who knows?
Need to see what admiral say about them first, see which is best to insure.

Polo 6n. Looks more beefier than the 6n2.

do you think so? i thought the 6n looked like a mouse and the 6n2 something bigger like maybe a hamster?
edit
comparisson in hardness.. i presume the hamster is harder than a mouse?

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about the C? Could you not swap it for a 1.8/1.4?

Go for the lupo, I dont see many of these, they're really cool, and id imagine all that torque in such a small car would be ace fun to drive aswell as being comfertable when you want it to be

The clutch is rubbish as it has no feel, the steering is too light, the interior is a horrible pattern, it seems flimsy, it doesn't handle very well, seems to be wallowy, even lowered, the brakes are crap, it has an annoying rattle, and it's slow.
the 1.8 facelift is better, but I won't be buying another C, ever.

I can see where your coming from tbh. I had the "pleasure" of driving a 1.0 hire car when i was on holiday. The difference in steering feel, gearbox "clunk", clutch feel, handling etc was surprisingly huge compared to my SRi. Lik eyou say, no "feel" or feedback from anything, just vagueness. No harm in trying a 1.8 (or even a 1.7CDti), but then if you don't like yours, you'll probably get in one already with a biased mind against it .
How about something like a 1.6 Zetec-S fiesta, or even a newer style fiesta?
The older style Ibiza's look nice aswell IMO - take a look in the classifieds section on here. For a few quid i think you could get a fairly basic 1.4/1.6 model to look as good as that .

I voted for the Lupo TDi.
There is, however, a '99 T Golf MK4 1.8T for sale on PHs for £3600, only has 76k miles. Quite a bargain.

I'd imagine he'd get bummed on insurance though, if a 106 GTi is a problem!

Fair enough. They are both a grp 14 though. Would be worth a try for a quote I reckon. £3600 is almost a grand within budget, so he could use some of the money from this saving if he liked the car enough.

Golf Turbo isn't as bad as the 106 actually
I hadn't thought about a Diesel Corsa tbh, if they're like the 1.8 (or any of the facelift's I've driven, then I'd probably like one.
