I drove a 320d and I really didn't like it. The gearchange is awful, just generally didn't feel all that nice to drive. Didn't help that it was basic model so it looked crap aswell.

Much prefer the A3 TDi's that I've driven.

A friend of mine has an A3 1.9TDI. It's a nice motor, but he's had no end of problems with it.

I have heard of other people having problems with them.

My mate had one and had to get a new gearbox. But I think that was down to his driving more than anything else

a4's are lovely.

I don't understand why you need a saloon car. Unless you have a family.

£2500 on a 318 Don't know if I could stomach shelling out that much in insurance myself, why not save some back for a better car when your insurance is lower. I only pay £650 fc on my S3 in a relatively bad postcode.

Besides, a 4dr 318 is a bit of a boring rep car for a 20yr old.

how old are you??? thats cheap on a s3!!

tbh under 21 on a £10k car is gonna be in the region of £2k. i think you'll get seriously bored of a 318. a4 would be a better choice but with 10k you won't get the best looking of either.

I'm 25 now but i've still never shelled out much more than 1k on insurance. Think the most was £1100 on a Xe Corsa at 22.

how come you need a 4dr saloon anyway?
