nope highest on autotrader is £1900 for a standard good 205gti, and imo is overpriced anyway.
wheres there are standard rs1600s on there 5k +
there are definatly much better track cars out there for less money, 205 gti being an example here

does it matter about the price?
people track mint 3 door cosworths, which are worth 20k+, e30 bmw m3's, which are 8k+, and VERY sought after.
a car is a car, the rs1600i was built to be raced, so putting it in a garage is a crime.

you could probably pick up a bit of a dog rs1600i for a k or so, that wouldnt be too bad being used on a track but 3k or more on one and your paying for its condition which track use will just ruin

ragging any car round a track will ruin it, of course it will your exerting massive strain on its components, obviously one lap wont show much damage but repeated use will

yes back when in its time, bit of an extreme example but would you want to rag that xr2i that was on ebay in a bubble round a track? that was built to be raced in its time

The average track session is equivelant to a years road use. Its a car, im not just going to look at it.

I can see what Steve's saying. But then again if you break anything mechanically you just mend it.

Its all good fun. Parts for these cars are hard to come by though which is a worry.

the rs1600is value is in its status of being kept standard and mint etc, by tracking it im sure you wont be keeping it standard and it definatly will not be kept mint, which is fine but why pay a premium for a car then just waste all of that what you have paid

since when was the xr2 built for racing?
would you track an e30 m3? yes
would you track a delta integrale? yes
would you track a lotus exige? yes
built for the purpose.
if you saw a car like that being used for the school run, you'd moan about that.
people track/rally cars worth 15 times the value, and equally collectable (RS200s, Mexicos, RS1800s etc) you don't moan about that, as they are being used how they should.

yeah i hold the same view with some of those cars robin, i personally would have an issue with taking any of my own cars on a track, would only do it if i owned some real shitter.
too much wear on the car, too dangerous, got to trust other people too much, wouldnt venture on there with something expensive

when me and ollie were at coombe ollie asked if i was taking the leon on there and i said no, we both came to the agreement we felt it was too stupid to take something on there that was worth anything in value.
of course not everyone thinks this as noone would go on a track
Robin: no way is it more dangerous taking a car on the road, abosultely no way in hell, the amount of near misses there was

but your leon wasn't built specifically be the manufacturer, with the prime objective of being a sucessful racing car...

course it's worse on the road. trees, lampposts, curbs, houses, bushes, oil, tractors, horses, loads more hazards.
on a track, if you spin, you slide on the grass. on the road, you hit a wall, post or other car coming the other way...

yes but chances of actually having the accident in the first place are less on the roads, unless you drive like an idtiot of course
