my mate had his car impounded, engine no. didn't match reg plates.....then he paid for it to be released, so the recovery truck would of impounded it, then courts would be involved then sentenced then the car crushed, license revoked etc.

They can due to new legislation in place. I mean, this guy is obviously under observation and I guess it has been through the courts and he must have been on his final chance. It's not like they would crush your car the first time they caought youdoing wrong...

Merseyside crush them if they're uninsured, which I would assume if they are racing they're not.

yeah, Im not saying they cant take your car off you. What Im saying is they cant just take it off you and crush it without it going through the courts first.

Id be very very suprised if you dont get pulled infront of a court prior to them deciding to crush your car. If its a serious enough offence to warrant your car being crushed then Id expect it would be enough for a summons.

Just like how they can take a private plate off you if your caught continuously with it spaced wrong etc, you get told what will happen if caught again & there not messing around!! They have the power to sieze & crush under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act.

yes, but that even says after they have seized the car (which I agreed they can do) further action is dependent on conviction...hence a day in court!

Id like to hear the full details (not just rumours) as I'd like to see more wanker drivers having their cars crushed. Would reduce some of the more idiotic things people do IMO.

even though i dont really drive like a tit very often, this would only happen to me on the day my car was running the best it ever had! and possibly the day iwas driving it home after i took a loan out to pay for its respray!

i would be gutted if they took any car of me and crushed it though!!!

if they said you could watch, would you?

So if someone is "racing" the police pull out all the stops and crush someones car worth £8/9k

But if your bieng mugged/attacked/burgled they leave it two days before coming round and do precisely fuck all???

this world is vast becoming topsy turvey
