With the 1.6 or the 1.4 in?
1.4
1.6 is lighter

How is the 1.6 lighter?
And how is it lighter than mine with a heavier engine and bigger brakes?

because I had no doorcards, and hardly any fuel
1.6 is lighter because the cylinder bore is bigger, so there is less metal in the block, and the extra on the pistons is less than that

a 1.6 is the same as a 1.4..... the bores are bigger for the pistons...
pistons are also larger on the 1.6 too though

Always known it to be the bottom end duration? When i spec'd up turning my 1.4 into a 1.6 it ended up costing far more in parts than it was to buy a 2nd hand 1.6... New crank etc.. Pistons etc all remained though.
At the time of checking, the part numbers were all the same for the 1.4 and 1.6.. But then the Vauxhall monkies round here are still learning what a stearing wheels for, so it could have been all BS fromt he guy reading the PC.
