well i went from a decked 106 xsi, had a subtle looking but ridiculously noisy exhaust, no body kit but it was obviously mod'd an i loved every minute. i now have a relatively std seat ibiza and i am swapping for a kitted, 2ltr turbo corsa as i love the modified look/fell/noise/the look on old ladies faces as you drive past at 6000rpm!!!!!!!!!!(i have grown up a bit since then!!!!) You've gotta love otherwise why would you do it!!! So from my exp i'd prefer mod'd than std!!!!

Would you feel embarrased stepping outside in a pink mini skirt, top & high heels dressed as a tranny?? Combat kit has the same effect on me

I was'nt embarassed in my Corsa as it had a bit of taste to it. But yes if I was driving a big kitted fibreglass jobbie i'd be embarassed, same as if the exhaust was stupidly loud or the music loud.

Haha!!! Quality!

Theres no way now I could drive an externally modified car Im afraid! The only modifications that I see as important are performance related ones. Each to their own tho, its whatever floats your boat! Subtle and fast!

well i don't see anything wrong with body kits, but yes i do prefer performance mods, but there is nothing wrong with making it look nice, and the beuty of modifying something is that you do it to your spec and your taste. So if you get embarrassed in a modifyed car don't get in em or if you've grown out of it sell it or change it!!!!!!!

My car is 'modified' but I wouldn't be embarrased turning up anywhere in it...

If you mod you car correctly and how you want WHY would you feel embarrased? It is done to how you want it ?

i was the same, i got to the stage i wouldnt drive my corsa, i hated the image it gave to people. alot of people do it when they r young then just grow up.

Every time i see a modified car, i honestly dont like them at all, but 3years ago i would love them to bits. Times change hey.

and when going for an interview it does give a bad impression. i went for an interview when i had my corsa, and all the older generation called it the chav motor. its just the image that goes with modified cars these days.

its all about subtle in the moddifying world

I find it funny when people ask what car I drive, I always say my nova first cos I'm proud of it, but most people don't understand what's so special until they ask around and the legend of 'Oli's Nova' is explained

personally i wouldn't put a bodykit or improve the engine on my 1.2corsa what is the point its going to go nowhere but i agree that you shouldn't be ashamed of what you have done to your car as its how you like it!

Yeah im 23 now......my corsa got written off, not by myself......and i'm glad i dont drive it anymore. Was alright when i was a few years younger.

So i now have a veccy SRi!

But yeah, it did get to the point where i embarressed to drive it. Although it was just a silver corsa with a gsi kit and speedlines, it was time to go bigger and a little more comfy.

I know what you mean by this

When you see a proper little ned in a car with a stupidly loud stereo/exhaust/whatever you think he looks silly

So maybe think that about my car when Im driving it? (Well, my 2.0 anyway)

Sometimes I do get paranoid & I turn the stereo down, keep he revs low & try not to rev too much. Even avoid eye contact sometimes

If Im in the silver one I don't ever get paranoid or worried what people think. Quite a few random people have made comments about it saying how much they like it, mainly happens in the mornings when Im in the car park paying for a ticket. It looks quite grown up & I think people accept that.

They wouldn't dream of saying that to me if I'd just pulled up in an extremely loud (imagine how loud TB's are on an XE, then imagine that in an enclosed car park), rattley Corsa with KEEEP UP on the reg plate. They probably instantly assume that Im a twat Knowing that people may think this I do sometimes get a bit concerned, but it looks fine to me & shifts well enough so Im not bothered
