Not really, cost him £7k for the Shell, buy-back and paint. There'd inevitably be bits he'd have to buy (like a new front end for a start) then there's the "cost" of 2 years worth of graft.

A quick look on Auto trader bought up this:

1999 SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 WRX STi Type R

2 Doors, Manual 5 speed, Petrol, 25,000 miles, Metallic Blue. BIMTA Certified mileage, Fresh Import, Locking Diff, Privacy Glass, This car is in exceptional condition, ABS, Adjustable seats, Air conditioning, Alloy wheels, CD, Central locking, Colour coding - Body, Electric mirrors, Electric windows, Power assisted steering, Radio. All usual dealer facilities, including finance, part exchanges, and every vehicle comes with a three month warranty. £10,495

No mention of the milage on the grey one, but i'll be worth significantly less than that due to it being a Cat C, possibly B write off .

deffo a good way to get to know your car!

I not long ago finished re-shelling my GT4... and I will just say it was a learning curve to say the least...

but 2 years to complete

we knocked mine out in 4 days not really trying to rush at all... and that included taking the engine out of the black GT4 too!
