To be honest, I was expecting the cambelt to go first, hasnt been changed for 50/60k. It gets raped all over (as you have to in order to travel at normal road speeds), never missed a beat, so I figured this would be something pretty major, logically pointing to HG failure... but no, opened it up and it looks brand new after 110k.

Still, it's experience, never changed HG or cambelt before, so I wont be so scared of doing it in future.

Anything I could swap internally whilst its in bits to make it more driveable? Don't suppose anyone has a Nova SR cam or SRi inlet lying around?

Yea, swap the bottom end, head, loom and ECU for uprated 2.0 items

You have no idea how much I want to do that. Might give the insurance a ring tomorrow, but I suspect I'll be told to go forth and multiply.

Also, anyone following Steve's guide to depressurizing the fuel system with a 1.2 8v, the purple relay you have to remove is located on top of the ECU thus:
