Least she doesnt have to worry about make up and doing her hair. No GHD's in that household.

She is a teaching assistant in a multi-cultural school...
But regardless of what type of school it is...its basic communication skills being able to see someones face when they speak...I instills trust etc...
She is just throwing the race card in because she can...if she actually cared about her job she would temporarily remove the veil whilst in school...
Also she went for the interview without it on...

Why cant they just be muslim, worship whoever, wherever they want
Yet they piss and moan when they are asked to do somthing to respect our culture, yet as a country it seems like we all shuffle down the line to welcome them in, yet they wont respect our beliefs and requests.
Its a free country, but its our country.

The Queen removes her shoes etc, respects others countries cultures, yetcertain people come over here and expect us to abandon our culture (as well as common sense) to allow them to live a life which could be considered not inherently "British".

This issue isnt even a respect of our culture issue IMHO...its a basic issue of giving the best teaching she possibly can to the kids of her class...
No one can deny the teaching she would give without the veil is better than covering her face so you can only see her eyes...
IMHO PMSL

how many of you has it DIRECTLY affected?
I bet more of you have been affected by something related to christianity than Islam. (ie. taking a hat off in a cathedral or church at a christmas carol thing at primary school)
I doubt anyone has been asked to remove their 'religious' item of jewellery

the media do non christian religions no favours. its all blown out of proportion by the papers, to get a reaction from people who read the sun.

Why is Jack Straw making comments then? It doesnt have to be in The Sun to cause a reaction.

Yes but when they live in a predominatlely protestant/Christian/catholic country they should show some respect towards others..

That BA worker has been asked to remove her cross when working... the difference is that's not covering her face.
If the Islamic woman wanted to show her faith in a way that did not interfere with her ability to interact then I don't see there being any problems.

but the Muslim community, and the Hindu community, and all the other religious communities still have as much right to follow their beliefs as Christians have to eat pancakes.

yes, its a pointless issue. the real issue isnt what the teachers are wearing, its what the teachers are teaching. spelling is more of an issue than dress code, but its ignored, because religion is a problem in the eyes of the media.

The fact this person doesnt have to wear the veil says everything. If she had to wear it and got told not to then fair enough, but she doesnt. Shes being a nuisance on purpose!

Yes.
They can talk to her, thats basic.
She can probably spell better than the her English counterparts.
Still, so far, no-one has shown me how it has DIRECTLY affected them
