Christian Faith was drilled into people in the middle ages to give them hope (of there being a savior watching over them) & fear (of being struck down apon should they step out of line) when people thought the world was flat & didnt have the intellect to think for themselves.

Maybe if more of the younger generations actually took the meanings from behind the stories that the church tries to teach, grew up with morals and a respect for one another the world wouldn't be in the mess it is today.

my grandad is a priest, i was never forced into going to church or anything. i dont go every sunday, but i always go on big events such as easter, etc.. and i occasionally go on a sunday.

I don't think most people understand religion tbh.
I'm of the opinion that if you lead a good life and there does happen to be a god he won't say, no you're not coming in because you didn't waste your time every sunday.
Some people like the fact that there will be an afterlife. Let them.
Religion was originally a way to keep people in check, society has now changed though.
