I've just beat matched a track and mixed it nicely on PCDJ

Might see if I can get a few songs mixed together and record it

Red or Blue? Red is more complicated, as it has a loop editor and recorder on it. Blue is just a mixer.

Recorder don't work very well at all on PCDJ so you can't hear shit, will try and fix it though and see if I can get something uploaded...

When I'm bored (i.e. most of the time) I sometimes mess about on GoldWave and MixMeister Pro!

I had a mate that was into DJ'ing and that, he's probably sold his stuff to fund his drug habit now!

I used to use PCDJ Red VRM...good software IMO. When i first started out i expected the software to give me a perfect beat match i quickly learnt that it has to be done by ear even if its on a computer.

I've since moved on to using PCDJ Scratch. This is vinyl emulation software that uses time coded vinyl on normal decks to manipulate an Mp3 on laptop.

Its the future of Dj'ing i think. It lets u have the hands approach but also means u dont have to lug record bags out all the time.

My advise to u if ur starting out is this....rather then focus on learning beatmatching, learn how to pick the next record...because if u get that right it makes the beatmatching sooo much easier

other may not agree with that, but it works for me

Your right about choosing the records. Some are really hard to mix into others...

A good tip to help learn to beat match and when to put the next track on in terms of bars and shit is to get 2 of the same song and mess about mixing them.

one problem i always had was to be impatient and mix out of the tracks too early! would get bored and want the next track on, this often leads to disaster!

As said, pick your tracks wisely, while you are learning. I dj'ed a few times with a mate in a pub in town my tip for that was Grolsch! took the pressure off, was ace! me and him used to have a right laugh, most of the people weren't even listening to what was being played so didn't matter, but as we didn't play the same cheessy shit like everywhere else he soon got a decent following. The bouncer used to have to come pull the plug to get us off alot of the time!
