So there apprenticships arent on site

Mine is three years long and i do 4 week blocks at college, and get paid full wages for it.

that isn't an apprenticship then sthelensr mine was and most apprenteicships are with C.I.T.B in construction trade

you need to find something that people in your area need but no one else does.

maybe things like wheelie bin cleaning, not many people do that. or cobblers are a dying trade...

Multitrade, a lot of firms want blokes that have a good all round knowledge and can do most things as its cheaper and quicker to employ one bloke to do a big job than 6 blokes to do the same job but separately.

its reasonably good money too.

How do you go about getting funds to start learning? where do you look for apprenticeships?

I'd love to learn a trade but know nothing about where to start.

Careers advicsors and Local education authorites, even job centres.

I got my apprenticeship through the careers centre at my old college. Im about to start 3rd year in aircraft engineering. most apprenticeships pay is crap at first but last year is usually better then when you qualify money is usually great. Youve gotta realise thoguh your getting paid to get qualified. My company has put me through so many courses and paying for all my uni.

Armed forces will give you a trade aswell!

One major problem with this.
I entered IT sales from School and the money was excellent - once everyone jumps on the bangwagon, margins drop you have to work harder for sales with less money.

There is always a "honeymoon" period with Sales and you have to remember if you have dire month after dire month, your totally dispensable.

The key to it, if your actually good at something and can prove your valve your worth more to that business than anyone else. That is the perfect situation.
