But this sounds rubbish.
There is not a chance that would stand up in court.
Following that logic I could buy a crate of tennents from asda, get pissed, drive into a lampost and get arrested, then say its not my fault because asda sold me it.
yes this is exactly what we're saying! pub manager has been in meetings all day with police and area managers, its a joke!
just as if say a 40 year old man comes to the bar and orders 2 pints of lager, then goes and sits somewhere else in the pub not in view of the bar and gives the other pint to someone under 18, the person serving is still liable for that person drinkign underage, its a total fucking joke! thats why as supervisor i rarely serve etc, spend most my time just patrolling the pub looking for underage drinkers

Lynny hasn't stated if he was.
Unless he came into the pub intoxicated he was at some point served alchol when he was sober.
Was it ok to serve him the pints when he was sober but not ok when he was over the limit?

Thats nothing to do with the drink driving then though.
That's concerning well before the drink driving happened.

I can't for one single second see how a barman/woman can in any way be resposible for the actions of a drinker once they have left the premises

thats what we're hoping. we know it is the law and that we are responsible if say, someone leaves our pub drunk and damages the shopping centre we're in as we let them get that drunk, but how we were to know that someone was driving home etc

sounds like crap tbh, how are they going to prove that the man actually got intoxicated from drinks served in your pub; he may have only had one half in your pub and been under the drink drive limit, then proceded to buy more drinks from asda which pushed him over the limit. Meening your pub wouldnt have actually got him drunk so it wouldnt be your fault, unless he kept the reciepts from your pub which is unlikely to say the least id say its all crap.
