I know someone who is running around 200 BHP from remap on the 150 BHP model with 180,000 miles on the clock

Regular service is all it takes, plus turbo's are relatively small on the 150 BHP models

diesels i think dont have a decent spread of torque like the petrols do, they are very good granted, but they just dont cut it for useable performance and tuning for me

i think the 1.8T engines are ace ...i was in a Audi A4 (B5) 1.8T the other day very nice indeed and running 190 odd brake after a remap very nice indeed ... that nice ive already been checking with insurace brokers to see if i can get one.

the shell is down the personal preference. the engines and chassis are the same, both as tunable, so go for whatever you like the look of

oh just one thing to consider, the golf 1.8t's come with 150bhp std (unless you get aniversery) the leons come with 180bhp std, if your planning on remap then thats no odds either way, both go to the same end result, although the leons can be pushed a tad further due to k03s turbos not the k03 in the gold, although its pretty marginal tbh

Just brought out the 2.0TDi 140bhp

My Dad has one. Used to have the 1.9 TDi before that.

The 2.0 engine is alot quieter and more refined in my Dads opinion having owned both. It pulls like a train, quite fast enough for most people on a day to day basis! They are now doing a 170 version too. But 2.0 TDi MK5 is big money compared to a 1.9 TDi MK4

My mates when he got it...

After a couple of weeks...

Latest pictures last week

Hes started to strip the interior, sold his 18s and is going to leave it on the steel wheels and fit a bigger turbo and then have it remapped So it looks like a shitbox but will go quite well.

They do feel a bit slow as standard though but like said previously its cos the power delivery is so smooth.
