was more for me , but my nearest porsche place is over 50miles where as i have a big honda dealership in my town less than a mile , that kinda swayed it for me really. In a way i would have prefered teh Porker simplyforthe badge
And the £100 plus an hour labour porker charge didn't come into it?
Running costs aside, if I had a choice between an s2k and a boxter, it would still be a boxter every time...

S2000 is a sexy as fuck car still I live 1/4 mile away from Honda, but they're gaylords
Parker & Parker Porsche garage is in Kendal so thats probably the closest place to you
People might say poor mans Porsche but its still a Porsche all the same and I would definately have one!

'Poor mans Porsche'? (not you steve)
Oh come on how retarded is that comment. Its a better car than probably 90% of the people on here will ever own. Its near perfection for its price bracket
yeah its a good car but not worthy of a porsche badge IMO

That would be the 2.5/2.7 actully. boxster s is the 3.2, gives probably the best MR chassis out there the power in deserves.
As said, the 2.5 and the 2.7 are the poor mans ones the boxter S with the 3.2 is pretty respectable. My bro was going to go for one of those over the 350z but it would have had to been older to be in his price range so decided against.

Poor mans Porsche comment is poppycock, thats like saying Imprezas are for people who think Saxos are too cheap.
As Adam said, its a good mid-engine, rear wheel drive car. I've never really been a big premium-brand person until I drove Lee Ms years ago, and have to say it impressed me rather a lot.

right
the 2.5/2.7 servicing isnt any dearer than the S, they use the same filters etc and are on 12k intervels
a good thing with these is FPSH isnt a must, if they have had work done at somone like paragon etc its regarded as the same, which means your know its been looked after
Only main problem a can remember is the crank shaft seal faling on them, which is mega £££ if it goes
best person to speak to would be lee Manning as ian mentioned, still has his boxster after quite a few years, could have bought a 996/997 etc, but didnt

the point is, its not a poor mans car, its a poor mans porsche, you have to admit though, they probably only bought a boxster because they couldnt afford a c4 or 911 or summit, making it in effect, a poor mans porsche. i cannot think if any other reason apaet from cost as to why youd choose one over the other more expensive models

yeah, but you only take it there when its in warranty right?
Full VXLSH doesn't really matter as much like for like as FPSH..and thats the problem. plus porsche parts are, shall we say *cough* 'expensive
Steve, not going to argue with your comments re: poor mans etc.......its just im not 'poor' and i can't afford one

You stick to your poor mans Audi then as you're clearly too minted to drive a Skoda.

Steve you are talking utter bollocks....Drive a Boxster S then drive the poor mans Audi as Ian mentioned (Could you not even afford the R?) then make your mind up.

again your comment has no relevance to this scenario, the porsche badge holds a certain prestige. People spend lots of money on porsches for for 2 reasons, 1. so they can brag about how much there cars worth, 2. to get supercar performance. A boxster is a cheap alternative for people to own a porsche.
my car doesnt sport an audi badge, it was not sold as an Audi it looks completly different to any Audi, therefore it is not a cheap audi, it doesnt have to pretend to be an audi as its not. it may share a lot of parts, but then so do a lot of things, its still not trying to be an audi.
This is the point your not getting, im not saying the boxster is a cheap or bad car, im saying for a porsche its a cheap method for people to say they own a "porsche" it has a porsche badge, but doesnt have the age old porsche heritage of being expensive and fast, therefore IN MY EYES its not a proper porsche
JC was 100% right when he said, people look at you in a Boxster and think you never quite made it to afford a "proper" porsche. Now you could argue that I never quite made it to afford an Audi, which in a sense is true, but the whole image is 100x times worse when your judging someone on something which is supposed to hold a badge of heritage.
Nobody really gives a twat about Seat, Seat isnt meant to hold an image of luxury, expense, and speed, thats why noone judges me, its all about the badge and peoples expectations of the badge.

Btw Boxster s is 266 bhp 0-60 in 5.2 secs.
Even the 2.5 is 205 bhp 0-60 in 6.7 secs which IMO isnt slow.
Im thinking about getting a Boxster next year but i expect it will be a 2.5 or 2.7 as insurance on the 'S' is too much.

I want a caymen with a 911 turbo engine in it, now thats the best stiffest MR chassis with the power it deserves.
First however I need some NCD, enough money to buy a black caymen and then to find a stacked turbo.......

Thats sterotyping porsche boxster owners. Not all of them buy it for the badge. The overall car is excellent and not many other convertibles come close to it.
Its "virtually" a baby 911 anyway (note, i said virtually )

the argument is based on peoples points of view of what they perceive a porsche to be, nobody is correct, only there perception and opinion
