tbh i think the looks will catch on as did with the C, i hated the look of the C but it had grown on me and i think the D will follow in its class.

as for the VXR version i also doubt 200bhp from it... as it would probs out perform the astra like somone has already mentioned

Suppose it has the potential to be remapped to around 200 even if it doesn't turn out to be 200 as standard?

well i was speakin to my bro in law who works for vauxhall, he said it will be havin 200bhp in it, up to 100mph there wont be much difference between the two. dont think it looks bad at all, and it will definatly be on my christmas list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VX are screwed either way TBH IMO

If they put it out with 160, people will buy other hatches, namely the new Clio.

If they bring it out with 200bhp it will be evenish with the Astra VXR so will be pointless spending the extra

On a side note, I saw an Arden Blue Vectra VXR for the first time yesterday and it looked stunning!

not really, the corsa will be too small for some people, so they'll buy the astra still.

its not exactly a major money maker anyway, its a flagship car designed to look good in the press and drum up business for the rest of the range

I dont think the new corsa would damage the astra market much even if it was as quick, because the corsa is smaller and some people do wants more space.

Im not sure on all this 200bhp stuff, but one concern i would have is 200bhp from a 1.6? Turbo lag could become a factor there, why not beef up the 2.0 to 200bhp?

200bhp from a 1.6 is a 125bhp/litre specific output, which is 5bhp more than the Astra, which means its either technically more advanced, or suffers less from reliability issues of producing high power figures from a small engine, or thats not the case.

I prefer to read such information from brochures rather than magazines, particularly Autoexpress, whose subscription I cancelled as there was so much speculation surrounding new cars.

I also want a white one.

we've been told it is the z16leh engine from the meriva, which basically is 160bhp. however, there is going to be a massive tuning potential with these engines, the tracts in the head are tiny,they use sodium filled valves like the xe did, and copper head gaskets. so it looks like itll be a good little motor.

it will look fine i reckon can't really see in those pics, i would imagine it in red and even in white it will look good, and on top of that you think what irmscher will be chucking at it, it will look lush
