Yes they would!!
They did it with SWP and di it with Samao last summer with us. They'll buy him just to stop other teams having him and stick him on the bench, regardless of who they already have.

theyve already done that..... theyve got far too many players in midfeld now for example, but they arent arsed..... what im saying is theyve already made the big signings, and i dont think torres or whoever will be the next one

lmao. smith is ace upfront, not his fault fergie likes to ruin peoples careers once they are doing well. (beckham, ruud etc... and making smith play midfield)

I don't think they bought Smith to stop him playing for someone else, I think they just saw an opportunity to grab a good player at a low price, as Leeds were down.

smith scored almost every time we played him upfront.... then was dropped and made a midfielder..... saha came into the side, scored every game - now hes the main striker - why ? also ole is way way past it... its nice to keep him as a coach but his playing days are past him
