I might go do this, need to get the other half of my drivers license back I suspect first

Wouldn't mind a shot in a few decent cars as I might actually be in the market for one soon

If you try and drive a high performance car as you suggested at 17 they will simply tell you to GTF / grille you so much regarding how you can afford it and the insurance you eventually leave

I've only ever needed to produce the card part of my license, not the paper bit.

I turn up in my Corsa and they take me seriously which is a good job as I am seriously on the look out for a new car!

But yes a 17 year old wont be taken seriously, it'll be obvious your just out for a jolly with no intention of buying

They will let you drive a car Matty as you want one which is actually achievable on the whole at your age and position...

A 17 year old strolling in asking to drive "Powerfull ones like scoobs or Evo's!" will probably be laughed at by the salesman

face it, its not going to happen!

You'll be lucky to be let out in a 1.0 Corsa, nevermind something with a bit of poke

we're not slating you, we're slating your idea - dont you think all 17 year olds would do this if it were the case most car garages with high performance cars are sceptical about young people anyway taking them for a ride

i have a friend who has driven TVR's Lancers etc since he was 17. He went with his dad when he was 21 to look at an imprezza and the garage sent him away. he had to travel miles to find some where that would let him test drive one! He bought a brand new WRX STi in the end.

And that was with his dad and has dad had an EVO 6 with them.

Seriously at 17 they will laugh in your face at anything decent.

You will find it very very hard

I havent ever test drove a car myself, but when my dad looked at his P1, i was allowed to drive it back along the dual carriageway to the garage!

90 mph yes please the salesman thought we were tame
we bought the car after anyway

We had 2 lads turn up at work when i was there over easter, asking about an r400 we had for sale

the cheif engineer - won the r400 championship 3 years in a row so hes an ace driver

took one of them at a time up the road, they both fell out the car and legs collapsed, was soo funny. They nearly decorated the seats

But they werent interested but we couldnt really say no, as they may have had the cash.

You may find that the salesman will take you out, if anything at all
