But i know of a good few Throttle Bodied 2.0 that have been running for years. The milder the engien spec, the longer it will usually last. Think Daves engine (lucky) was a 20,000 mile rebuild jobbie?????

As said, build it right, it'll go on and on. Build it slightly wrong, it'll bust much sooner.

£3k on an XE will get you a safe reliable 200bhp odd. Don't know anyone with a NA engine thats snapped CV joints etc though... Only hear issues from the LET owners.

my old 20XE had done 120k miles plus and i ragged that every day to uni in london and to Southend by night racking up 1-1.5 k a week and it didnt let me down once for two years....even managed 34 runs up Santa Pod Raceway and it only breaks CV's now

Love the idea of 1.6 on tbs and can appreciate why people like them, but not in an every day car

4 > 1 exhaust manifold £175
oversize pistons (0.5mm), block bored to suit, new valves, valve guides, triple angle valve seats, stem seals, crank/flywheel balanced £700
cambelt kit £100
small alternator £150 + belt £10
quikshift gear linkage £40
ARP bolts £50
new rings, big end & main bearings £100

£2725 so far, still mapping, cams, vernier pulleys, SBD metal idlers, nitrous and god knows what else to come

jesus no wonder im skint
