Looks good mate get it and tune it up.
As already said, with some nice mods - cams remap etc, it should beat most XE'd corsa's in a straight line and round a track.
after camming etc, whack it on a set of TB's and you have a truely truely awesome car.
For value for money, I'd say 106 Gti is one of the best cars you can get cheaply at the moment.
People who say they're unreliable - I probably had same amount of things go wrong on my Corsa if not more on the corsa. Though obviously as a car gets older it'll have things naturally go wrong (as with any car).
People who moan about it being flimsy, well for a start half the reason it's so bloody quick is it's light! the car obviously isn't 'flimsy' as it handles superbly - and anything flimsy would handle like a jelly.
And finally people who complain about the small foot well, yes it is quite cramped, I wear size 12 trainers and it was a bit weird at first (accidently pressing 2 pedals at once and stuff) but you soon get used to it! It actually makes it good to drive once you get used to it as it's piss easy to heal and toe!

Why does it have to be an s2? Some MINT s1 16vs going on rallye register at the mo. You will get an s2 rallye for under 3k mate easy.

Yeah will be mate. Il admit not as quick in a straight line, but torquey as fuck, light as anything. Handling cant be beaten. Overall immense cars.

Why would you take a S2 Rallye over a 106 Gti? especially when your talking tuning.
It won't be any torquey than a 106 gti as the engine block is the same capacity, it'll just make the torque low down = lame.
My car is fairly torque as fuck through the whole rev range. 135 lb ft peak torque @ 5133 rpm. Pulls like a train now from about 2k rpm to 7200 rpm.
Yes 106 Rallyes are good, but I'd still go for a gti. Only advantage of Rallye is its stripped as standard. So just strip your Gti = sorted.

A stripped rallye will always be lighter than a stripped gti. They are built to be thrashed.

How do you work that out? ok Gti engine will possibly weigh slightly more due to different head. and if your Gti has PAS I suppose thats a little weight, but apart from that, the shells the same (talking S2 rallye here) -if you strip both shells they'll weigh the same not including engine weight.
Thing is people bum rallyes because their more 'Raw' - but I prefere 16v's any day over 8v - just the way the power is delivered etc.

Paul yours aint exactly standard though as for stripping it as butler said a gti aint gonna be as light as a rallye as the rallye dont come with all the sound deadning afaik that what a s2 rallye with the 16v engine would be very tempting

The rallye doors are thinner to save weight and little things like this. The shell including panels isnt exactly the same a gti.

Even if the GTI is the better overall car, they are never as cool as a Rallye. I only ever see girls driving GTIs with pink fluffy steering wheel covers.

Yes but if you 'Strip' hence the term strip there won't be any sound deadening in the gti.
Ok, When my Gti was standard I was out at donnington - 2 people in my car, and I came out of a bend and had a white Rallye infront of me with a few mods like pugsport, induction, only 1 person in the rallye and it pulled away from me
but when my car was 140 bhp, with just pugsport decat, green induction - I was out on track with rallyes at castle combe and I was definately quicker.
Now I'd leave them behind no probs.
Yes s2 Rallye with Gti engine, though if your changing the suspension etc anyway I don't necisarily see the point - you can still strip the gti shell to the same spec as a rallye - just your going to lose all your comforts.

- first reply on that site
"Just pick between 8v and 16v really. Loads of people are buying rallye's then 16ving them to create a rallye hybrid but i think it'd be easierand cheaper to get a white 106 gti and put rallye decals and a blue carpet in it......
I'd have a 16v with leather."
Lol @ rallyes are cooler, yes they're more 'Raw' - like I said

Butler, I understand 8v is a good car, very tractable low down and your 1.3 8v is awesome for what it is.
but bottom line is 16v is better than 8v.
I find it amusing how 'rallye drivers' put themselves in a different class to 'gti drivers' - i.e. rallye = Raw driving machine like a integra Dc2. Where as Gti = Hair dressers car like a Mazda Mx5
In my opinion, if you tune a gti, put it on decent suspension and make it track worthy like mine is - there's no way its a 'hair dressers car' - I'd take my car any day over a rallye.

Im not going to argue that Rallyes are the better car, just depends what you want it for. Definately alot cooler IMO. I love my rallye for the fact it classes under 1400cc and its going to see some rally use in the near future. Not GTI would even class for that.

also my good friend kenich from PGAC
"GTi rather than S2 Rallye, My 8v was good against 16v's but never 16v quick after 80+
Loved my 8v, but 16v is sooo much quicker Go for GTi and get 16v's!"

What the fuck are you chatting about? A ) a car being cool is all relative to the owner, Most people would think both our cars are lame.
Gti's won't class for rallys ? - LuckyB (Dave P) on this site has a 16v 106 that has won his class in scotland or something.
There's no real advantage of a 106 rallye other than insurance, everything else about the rallye, can be obtained from a 106 gti by stripping all the unecisary bits off.
The thing I like about your rallye though butler, is it's a 1.3 and produces 100 bhp - will do the 1/4 mile in roughly about the same time most of the corsa sport boys will do 1/4 mile in 1.6 16vs Now that's an achievement
