Gerrard wouldnt of scored half as many this season without Crouch. And his work off the ball is excellent. He may not score loads of goals but he brings alot of other things to the games which someone like Bent and Owen cant do.

If you havent actually seen him in a game in person (i.e. not on tele) then you probably wont respect what he can do.

i wouldnt say it was a dive, but rather avoiding a tackle, and the ref gave a penalty...

Have you watched darren bent play? He wins so much in the air bringing others into the game. Just think what he'd do with the service from beckham, gerrard.

There were lots of options up front and Crouch should not be one of them

Thats the problem with friendlies so close to the world cup.

Nobody wants to give/receive a hard tackle for fear of injury. As a spectacle its a non event IMO.

Gives them a run out though I guess...

Im not just talking about winning things in the air (which he can do better than Bent anyway). His holding the ball up for runners is what he does best, his touch with the ball at his feet is excellent.

Plus Im not talking about playing him for 90mins. He is simply a great and different option to bring on when we cant break a team down. He offers something others cant defend against and no one else can offer...extreme hight!

BTW- Just saw the penalty. Def didnt touch him, but agree it was a bad tackle and was avoiding it. Wasnt a dive in the normal, Drogba, sense!!

Ive never liked Ian Wright, is always full of shit. He is speaking like Gerrard dived like Drogba did...he avoided a really bad tackle that could of put him out of the WC FFS.
