The sad thing is, you may be right in that statement.

It's nothing new though. One upmanship has always been part of gang culture.

Random?

Either way it doesn't take a hard man to use a knife/weapon.

Dont be silly.

IMO 99% of blokes that carry knives are doing it to impress their mates.

Media coverage like this, which maybe true, should never stop you going out

I've not watched the video yet, but this is one thing that gets me annoyed. Generally when cocks like this are in a gang, they beat up people etc just to impress each other, just seems out of order.

It's one thing to beat some people up (which is v.harsh) but to actually stab and kill people - Wtf is wrong with these people?

I would guess that these guys did nothing wrong, infact in most cases if a gang like this finds a group that look hard / look like they'd put up a fight - they won't bother attacking them.

Makes you sick - Just knives are so horrible, to be stabbed, slashed or killed from them is so easy to be done - but so unreversable.

A few of my mates went into town (in maidenhead near me) - when they were younger, got stopped and effectively 'mugged' as these asians asked for their wallets and phones. They refused, but then the asians smacked one of them for not co-operating, so they all legged it. Split up.

These asians jumped in a car, pulled up in a high street, jumped out where 2 of the lads had run, knocked them to the floor and stabbed on in the gut and slashed the other guys face, from top to bottom.

All for what? What did those guys do wrong? They just didn't let the people mug them - probably even if they had handed over their wallets they would of still beaten them up.

Some proper twats in this world.

Watching that kidulthood the other day didn't help things imo, Shows how gang culture / knives and beating people up are seen as 'nothing'.

Yes the govermenat does have to shoulder the blame for being so bloody lentient on the offenders and being so slow to react to it, but the goverment are just a small part of the problem, in my opinion the biggest problem is modern music culture, these days youngsters look up to and try to be like people they think are cool - invarably these tend to be high profile rap stars and other "urban" acts who don't only sing/rap about killing people but talk about it in interviews about how they have done it in the past - their fans then see where they are in the world and what material goods they have (programmes like "MTV Cribs" glamourise this) and it seems a win win situation - they have the reputation of being a "hard man gangster" and they have the luxury lifestyle, and if you're always reading about it and watching it on tv then an aspect of it is going to rub off.
Is it a co-incidence that with the rise and rise of US and UK gangster rap there has been a rise of violent crime amongst our youth in this country?
Go back 20 years to 1986 and look at the music scene, yes there were still crimes but nowhere near the scale there are today, again, co-incidence? I think not.
You should also point the finger of blame at parents, now I'm not a parent but you must be able to tell if your kids have violent tendancys? As with all things it'll start small (fighting at school a lot, domestic violence and aggression at home etc) and if not nipped in the bud it will grow and escalate, this is where the parents have to act and do something - what I don't know but they should do something.
The Police - they are swamped under so much paperwork these days that they don't like to do anything unless it is 100% nessecary, and that is not their fault, their hands are tied by the stupid "Blame and claim" culture of modern society so they have to cover themselves at every step to avoid any possible comeback onto them should anything happen (again we can thank the yanks for that!)

I'm 30 this year, and I can remember that when I was 14/15 for example if you got caught by a policeman doing something minor wrong, he'd give you a harsh warning, maybe an off the cuff threat about a police record etc and that'd be enough to scare you off doing it again, if a policeman done it today most kids would laugh at them knowing that they won't do anything!

It's a lack of respect for authority/elders/other peoples property by this countries youth that has brought it to the state that it is now, and I said it 5 years ago and I'll say it again - The future for this country is SHIT unless it is addressed! The youth of today are the same ones that in a few years time will be our MP's, our teachers, our Police Force!

God help us and this once great country, it's rapidly going to the dogs I'm afraid.

i would agree with a lot of that but i dont think blaming the parents always works .

I feel for the parents not only of the murdered lad but also of the youths that attacked them . I know that they must feel utter dispair and somewhat guilty for what as happened and i have no doubt thta in a lot of cases like this parents have given all they can to bring up a law obiding and decent child . But it doesnt always happen some kids just go out of control , get into drugs in a big way , probobly living on there own or in care at 16 . then there is no guidance and influence and acting the big man takes over .

i do agree though that music has a great influence on the youth culture of today . lyrics of some songs are unbelievable , its a shame the rules on what should be aloud to be released and what cant arnt tightened .

Those that fought for our freedom must be so pleased with what we all have grown into

Maybe the enemy was within, something I've known for years upon years was that we lost this worlds one last great chance to be united under one banner, for the human race to respect each other and believe in the same beliefs, and our sole purpose to further ourselves.

Instead, we gave people the choice to commit horrendous crimes, to disrespect each other, and instead of being united everybody hates each other.

I blame the Americans totally for this.

At the time we saw the Third Reich as bad news, its change, people hate change, people feel threatened by it hence the reason we went to war to prevent change, people thought it to be for the worse? But you only need to look at todays world to realise that maybe it was'nt such a bad idea after all.

You can never excuse what the Nazi's done, the millions of Jews persercuted for there beliefs, but then you only have to look at Stalin, 60 odd million killed by him, yet no one EVER batters a eye lid or complains about that, the goverments of back then felt threatened by Hitler because they knew that if he could pull it off people would want to be part of it.
