i dunno, it just seemed a bit abrupt.
There was two chaps that spotted the electromagnetic change (they were foreign), what were they all about and why did they ring that chaps wife?

so they decide the best way to find him is to monitor the electromagnetic waves out at sea?

They are trying to find a person not a giant magnet.

Also did anybody else notice that when jack, kate and sawyer were on the doc, jack and kate interchanged looks as if to say "stick by my plan". Jack had already stated that he defo ahd a plan but at the doc Sawyers face was really confused like he didn't have a clue what they were doing.

PLEASE REWATCH THE SCENE AT THE DOC.
