Tell me how they have covered there arses please, I have worked in my place for 7 years and the only reason I stay here is the hope that I get made redundant and get a pay out.

my missu worked for a country house hotel in the middle of the peak district
the year before she was there they took £27 000 for conferences which barely even covered the conference coordinators time
in the first 6 motnhs she was there as conference coordinator - she took £278 000
10 times as much in 1/2 the time
she was made redundant at her review because they said although they were really happy with her work, the structure she's implimented and the money she's brought in - they don't trust her because she got on well with 10 members of staff who have been sacked previously to her and she still sees them socially
anyway point of the story - she walked into the hotels main competitiors and got a job the same afternoon! on more pay and better working conditions - there wasnt a job advertised but when she turned up they made a position for her
it might turn out to be a good thing for you!

They have offered to fund helping everyone towards TUPE-ing to one of our customers - Dell and AXA or to get us jobs outside of the companys involved, which means we wouldn't get it as they will be presssing us to leave before the date

getting a payout shouldn't be about covering arses etc, its human decency when getting made redundant.
Its not as much money as people think tho, even tho you should still get something, i wouldn't stand for that, at least fall out with them

As I own the account to order all of AXA's PC's I feel it would only be fair to have a few sent to a secret address

jizzy you are entitled to half a weeks pay for every year you have worked for them from 18 to 21. then a weeks pay for every year from 22.
EMPLOYMENT LEGISLATION
REDUNDANCY ENTITLEMENT - STATUTORY RIGHTS
a guide for employees PL808 (Rev 6)
Introduction
This document gives general information about the redundancy payments scheme under the Employment Rights Act 1996 (referred to as 'the Act' in this document). It outlines provisions relating to time off to look for work or to make arrangements for training when facing redundancy and explains how a complaint is settled.
It also explains the rules for offsetting pension and lump sum payments under occupational pension schemes against statutory redundancy payments. It is not a complete or authoritative statement of the law; only the courts can provide that. If in doubt, you should seek your own independent legal advice.
The Redundancy Payments Offices can give you more information about entitlement in cases where an employer fails to pay a statutory redundancy payment for which an employee qualifies..
HELPLINE
There is a helpline to answer your questions. The number to ring is 0845 145 0004 (calls are charged at local rates).
Redundancy payments
When is a redundancy payment due?
Your employer must give you a lump-sum payment if:
you are made redundant;
you have at least two years continuous service since the age of 18; and
you meet the other conditions set out in this document.
You may also be entitled to other - non-statutory - payments if this has been agreed in your contract of employment
What are the payments?
The amount of your lump-sum redundancy payment depends on:
how long you have been continuously employed by your employer;
how your years of continuous service relate to a particular age band; and
your weekly pay, up to a legal limit.
For each complete year of continuous service between the ages of 18 and 21, you will receive half a week's pay.
For each complete year of continuous service between the ages of 22 and 40, you will receive one week's pay.
For each complete year of continuous service between the ages of 41 and 65 you will receive 1½ weeks' pay. However, if you are over 64, the total amount of the payment you receive will be reduced.

Thats the thing mate, we are entitled but with the loop holes they have got round this.
Today was the first announcement, we will be told more specifically next session and see where we stand. It seems like we are being screwed but we will be told more after our questions are answered in the coming weeks.

seriously dude they cant screw you over
i was made redundant last year. I kicked up a proper fuss
big companies like to announce it months and months in advance with the idea that people dont hang around making their payout alot smaller. if you wait and 100+ people are being made redundant in the same area then all of the people are fighting for the same few jobs in the local area.
By law you are entitled to the above unless they find you a job.
