Alongside each other there was little difference, its just the way they built; s2k on the floor and noisy, but the ATR is more refined and sound deadened. The Teg is somewhere in between. But the astra felt slower than both

As the astra runs fairly low boost as std, the car and spool and kick of the turbo is very very refined which can give the impression that the car isnt very fast.
Pitch it against some direct competition and it is actually a pretty quick car in all fairness.
Im bored of my power in the GSi already, although it does make me smile on occasions. That thread on Astra-sport was started by me, and im going for phase 2 in a couple of weeks.
I dont think I will bore of 260 odd brake and 300Ibs torque too quickly.

I would of thought it had the opposite effect, turbo coming sooner giving you the impression you were going quicker than you really were.

Maybe I didnt word that very well.
The car gets 'to speed' very quickly, without really noticing it even has a turbo.
I had to drive my mates ACT, as I didnt think mine was performing as it should have been...but it was.
Action was needed, so phase 2 was sorted.

Yesh I would get the turbo and go phase 2, then stop! But will it still be sensible or jsut drink petrol on normal trips?!

MPG can be high 20's for mixed driving.
Im only seeing 23 at the minute, but mine is all urban and short trips which will kill any good MPG expectantcy.
Mike Warner was seeing 34mpg iirc on CS4!

On sensible trips I can't see it been bad. It's the temptation to put your foot down you need to control!

Dunno, if you look on Parkers they quote differant figures for the turbo. Some 187, some 197 and some 200.

I think the 187's are coupe T's and SRiT's, with the 197 being GSi's and possibly later Coupe T's.

187 is the Sri Turbo & Coupe, 200 is the GSi iirc.
I have:
Miltek exhaust
De-restricted box
Vectra airbox pipes
Iridium plugs
Im adding:
Regal lower FMIC
Regal cam
Regal Pulley
Regal Phase 2 software
Pre-cat
This should see 260bhp/310Ilbs providing everything else is healthy.
I drove a phase 1 astra Sri Turbo the other week, and that was noticably quicker than my std set up.

Id be happy with that, else i'll get stuck in same rut of spending a fortune.
I wanna have a nice car, and the convertible looks fun, with thtat power its a defo step up and the vauxhal parts shouldnt be as much as jap parts like my almera was!!

I'd only have the astra based on looks and straight line speed (good tunability) tho

Where i live theres no chavvy people driving around in these
And things only become common for a reason, oh no wait, ive got an idea, lets buy a poorer car, just because its less common?
