Mate with the Alpine slut bought an Epiphone Les three years or so ago and taught himself on it with a baby Marshal.
Lovely bit of kit. Fantastic finish for the price, and is a lovely sunbursty honey and cherry red pearlised sort of combination.
Once he got competent, he went barmy on his pedals, then he got the Gibson, then the amp, and more pedals.
He now wants to get one of those Peter Frampton type mouth pipe thingies, and some active pick-ups.
Good lad.
Btw, the weight of his Gibson is unbelievable.
I'm almost sure it must be getting on for twice that of the Epiphone. I think it must be lead lined.

Best drummer IMO:
Joey from Slipknot
In the studio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSwonttBFp0&search=joey%20slipknot
And another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1ld7q1OPls&search=joey%20slipknot
Live in London (quite a well known clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzV1MKSs1SM&search=joey%20slipknot
And for all the doubters out there that don't rate him, a live performance from Metallica where Joey was the last minute stand in - with no practice playing a song unfamilair to him! Enjoy!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwQni-_jWYE&search=joey%20slipknot
EDIT: Just seen the first comment on the Metallica one - "Joey looks bored" err he's wearing a mask so he always kind of looks like that!

The irony of Metallica playing a gig named 'Download 04' when you consider the uproar and legal wranglings there were regarding the practise of the same name, in respect of their own music.

if anyones interested, a few drummers that imo are far better than joey
Bobby Jarzombek
Mike Portnoy (dream theatre)
Danny Carey (Tool)
and regarded as the most technical drummer in the UK, Dan Foord if you can stand metal/noise Sikth
