Not a fun job.

i did it myself wasnt that bad

If your idea of heaven is crawling around upside down in a small footwell full of dust and dirt, fighting with a pedal box then be my guest Steve.

You did yours. Took as long as you needed. No pressure. All the time in the world. Don't have to do another one.

Try doing lots, regularly, plus dozens of other much worse/harder jobs, every day, all day, and to ridiculous time constraints, and with stupid people asking you stupid questions.

edit: Wasn't having a go by the way Steve.

And the rest.

One set I did took nearly all day.

Had to drop the tank to get the axle off, and the bushes were rusted in solid and had to be air chisled out.

Just the chisling took about half an hour of solid sweat and toil per bush.

I fucking hate cars.

On another note, the motor trade has been criticized for charging the same or more than the going hourly rate of a provate General Practitioner for labour... Main dealer prices do take the piss, but people are willing to pay it normally..

Is that one of the worthless ones that has been bounced off of the rev limiter for a month to see if it will break? We get engines like that off of Ford for free

GP has to pay for his suits, a small clinic/practise and a few nurses and receptionists, plus some odds and sods equipment wise.

Modern dealership has to spend appalingly large sums of money on lease of premises and equipment, plus buy tools and equipment, plus enourmous annual insurance, training and wage bill.

They also have to cover lost money on parts that get used but are unchargeable and any mistakes that are made, or any damage that is done.

They are also a business owned by greedy men and are not a charity.

This is why they have to charge so much.

Not defending them, I hate it personally, especially when the rate of pay for the chaps ACTUALLY solving the problems on the cars and repairing them is so pitiful.

Just another shit fact of life i'm afraid.
