Sorry are you trying to ridicule me or something
A v6 vectra was an example ok a civic type-R then
You see my point, so what if he buy sa quick bike he's probably not going to ride it like cock if he's not confident on it, I know I wouldn't

R6's aint a bed bike...And as for insurance try Motorcycle Direct. Mate is looking at one and hasnt passed his test yet. Gettin some very cheap quotes. Cheaper than i'm paying on my Hornet.
If you can do you direct access and the new laws they are on about bringing in are a load of shite. Make it a lot more difficult to get a big bike.
As for what size to have, I'd defo go with a 600. You will get bored of a 400 very easily. Find they can be a little underpowered. My opinion of course but I went straight to a 600. I would say the Hornet is a good first bike. Good build quality and the motor is a slightly detuned CBR6 engine. Very nimble thro the corners.
Heres a pic of mine to wet your whistle.

Yeah...I dunno if the next bike i have will be more of a sports type as you do get alot of wind blast with it not having any fairing or a screen. You get used to it tho.

Ive got an R6, its my first bike too. I can understand when people say its too fast and extreme for a 1st bike, but i was used to it after 2 weeks.
My mate has just bought an R1 for his 1st bike too, and he's doin fine on it.
End of the day 250/400's are still fast, if your gonna ride it stupidly, you'll come off it, whether it be a 250, 400, 600 or 1000!
If you take it easy, learn how to control the bike's weight and power you'll be fine after a months riding.
I was looking at SV650's before i bought the R6, but the R6 had more of a 'grin factor' for me.
Im glad i bought the R6, its cool as fuck! fast as fuck, and i'll be happy on it for about a year, instead of buying something smaller then changing it in 5 months time.

I wouldnt go for a bandit either, everyones got them! When new riders pass their DAS, everyone think, Bandits! but the newer ones arent as good as old ones, and the old ones, are now old and getting battered! If you wanna ride sportsbikes/superbikes, then get a sportsbike! If your more of a road biker then get a hornet, fazer etc, but Bandits are past it, dull and boring

Ducati 400SS if you can find one - rare as rocking horse shit - mate bought a factory and there was one in a cupboard under the stairs - very nice tidy 400 - went well, handled well - and started first time (after oil change, new sparkies etc) after being locked up for near on a decade (building had stood unoccupied for that long)
