in my shop, If it was a regular I knew then no problem although i would still check the note. If it was some random off the street i would take a closer look, especially if they broke out a £100.

I check all notes though. No matter who the customer theres nothing to say they could have innocently gotten hold of a fake.

Because English people, like me, don't see or deal with them everyday of the week,so that means they are easier to get away with if the cashier is dumb. They are prominently one colour and its even hard to find the place where the water mark is.
I check them with the indicator pen when i get them as there are alot of fakes about.

Scottish people may find this annoying, aboit like when you try and spend a 50 english note, i feel like a criminal using them they check them that much.

Whats the point in having a Scottish £100 note? Surely they're all too tight to spend that much anyway?

And if you cna't spot a fake it's your own fault.
Its not a high horse either.
Driving a couple of hours from glasgow to newcastle I don't expect to need different money to buy breakfast after a night out.
Spotting a fake isn't as easy as you think. People who are good at faking money can print 'real' fake money, if you get what I mean. As most of the Scottish money I saw in my days as a cashier was very old tender it did feel fake in comparison to the brand new English notes.

If you walked into a shop and tried to spend an English £100 pound note then you should expect to be told to piss off with your fake money, and perhaps do some research into English tender before attempting to fake banknotes.

Note didnt look like that!

Oh and he wasnt scottish, he was kosovan or some shit.

I check ALL notes before accepting them, english iraish or scottish its called being vigillant and ed is correct the difference between real and fake notes is sometimes just a "hue" of red, hardly visiible to the naked eye unless u hold a real and a fake one side by side even then u have to look so closely.

They are very good at it, if they werent there wouldnt be any cos everyone would be caught

I think its actually against the law for them not to take Scottish money....should have waved down PC Plod
.

I got told the otherday by my till manager it is ILLEGAL to not accept any legal tender, that includes scottish notes and english £50.

we have a marker which if it shows up means the note is fake, if your unsure, use it on the sly
