To the list at the top I'd add grand Central Station and Rockfeller Centre. 'Top of the Rock' observation deck is meant to give an excellent view of the ESB.
I'm off for the first time on April 15th with my girlfriend. She's only ever been on caravan holidays to Weymouth - so will be a little different to say the least!
Cost me about £900 for 4 nights flying Virgin from Heathrow. Our hotel is the Comfort Inn Midtown literally 100m from Times Square.
I did all my research on tripadvisor.co.uk.
If you don't want to pay for the ferry to Liberty Island, just hop on the free ferry to Staton Island.

You cannot go to the top of the statue of liberty any more! My gf was there last week, and highest point on the statue you are allowed now is the base under the feet. said to be to much of a target now since 9/11
but dont let that stop you having a great time out there!

we stayed in comfort inn when we went last year as was only there for a few days. rooms aint all that but ur very rarely in them. one of the lifts wasnt working when we was there so used to take ages for it to come as we was on the 10th floor. i thought new york was ok but then went onto florida which i much preferred.

Thats it - the hotel was relatively cheap and in a perfect location. Don't plan to be in there too much.
the only thing I'm not too sure on now is where all the main shops are. I know Macy's and Bloomingdales, Century 21 and NikeTown but no others. I won't have much time to go shopping with all the things I have planned. Also have no time to go to the USS Intrepid War Museum.
For those who have been already, how did you get back to the Airport? Just got a taxi? how much did it come to?
