jesus the 306 Gti-6 weighs that much?
I've seen different figures for 106 gti, ranging from say 850-930 kg.
but lets just say 930kg
141 bhp / 930kg = 151 bhp per tonne

k your right then
GTI-6 165bhp / 1215 kg = 135 bhp per tonne
Corsa 1.8 125bhp / 1044 kg = 119 bhp per tonne
106 gti 120bhp / 910kg = 131 bhp per tonne

Eitherway I'd rather have a Corsa C 1.8 over a GTi-6

lol my 2 pugs (205 and GTi-6) have both been a lot more reliable than either of the 2 corsas i owned. hence why i sold up.
Each to their own though.

the gti-6 is a good car, handles well, looks ok, and can be tuned well, jamsport did one with nearly 200bhp, had chip cams and exhaust, went ok.....
would have one over a corsa c any day!
however i like to pick on them

to be honest, any car - if you drop the power mid corner, you obviously can't drive for shit.
Dropping the power / lifting off or braking mid corner at high speed - results in one of two things...
Back end goes light / comes around ... not good
or Front end goes light (since no power going through wheels driving you) and you'll end up understeering and going straight on ... not good
Why anyone would want to lift off mid corner other than fun I don't know?

This isn't just a feature of the GTI-6's either. Even the big fat diesels do that.

Have a look on the performance calculator www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp
Gti-6 = 1215kg & 167bhp
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 167
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1215
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 139.66
0 - 60 (Secs) : 7.62
0 - 100 (Secs) : 20.91
60 - 100 (Secs) : 13.29
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.05
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 87.61
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.85
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 89.11
106 Gti with breathing mods = 935kg & 140bhp
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 140
Weight without Driver (KG) : 935
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 152.14
0 - 60 (Secs) : 7.12

106 gti is 120bhp, it would take more than exhaust and filter to up it by 20bhp.
plus that doesnt take into account, gear ratios, grip, drag etc etc.
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 120
Weight without Driver (KG) : 935
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 130.40
0 - 60 (Secs) : 8.14
0 - 100 (Secs) : 23.81
60 - 100 (Secs) : 15.67
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.62
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 83.54
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.42
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 84.97

using that max power style calculator is pointless. might as well use an abacus

That abbacus style calculator seems pretty accurate I wouldn't of thought it would be, but it's weird.
When my car was completely standard topshot I did 1/4 several times, mainly being around 16.1->16.4.
With the pugsport decat exhaust and induction kit, I did a 15.3. This was also how my car was when it made 140 at the fly (though I do not know what my car was standard, as we all know most 106 gti's never made 120 bhp standard).
Either way, you can't debate my 15.3 - as it is a geniune time I did when my car only had an exhaust (no mani) and filter. You were saying your gti-6 has never been troubled by a single 106 gti, yet mine which is fairly standard still could beat it judging the 1/4 mile times? and theres many more 106 gti's quicker than mine?
On the 106 gti the induction system is fairly restrictive, a lot more so than on say a corsa. The corsa induction system goes, intake, airbox, engine. Ok the the thing inside the box may be more restrictive than some, but generally it's fairly direct.
On the 106 gti, it goes intake from the front of the engine, then goes down, does a big U bend that goes to the bottom of the engine bay, then goes up through some restrictive piping, then another right angle into the air box - then into the engine.
the reason for all this weird and restrictive tubing is noise reduction and I believe it's the main reason 106's respond well to removing the original induction system.
Then the exhaust system isn't just a cat back, but a group N (not street legal supposedly) exhaust, with decat. Most exhausts may see you say 5 odd bhp, with decat maybe another couple of bhp, plus the removal of the induction crap I may of gained about 12 bhp from the lot. Since they say most 106 gti's make around 130 bhp standard I don't see my 141 from the mods listed being so crazy.

i have been out in a 106 gti and the gti-6, both standard there really is nothing in it from a standing start its only top end the 306 will walk away. both cars have now been fettled with slightly and the 106 is now the quicker out of the 2
